Colour Me... Striking!

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Hello, friends!  I'm back with a two-color palette, from Colour Me...!, to inspire your creative time this week.  This one calls for the use of Stampin' Up's Tangerine Tango and Cucumber Crush.  My nephew celebrated his ninth birthday yesterday, so it came just in the nick of time to inspire his card.
I started this card by piecing a trio of patterned papers onto the White, cardstock, card face and anchoring them with green-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then wrapped a length of Mandarin twine, around the card face, just right of vertical center and tied its ends, in a bow, near the top edge.
The envelope was black-embossed with the mushroom/grass image which was watercolored with Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, and Garden Green inks; dressed up with a  trio of orange, sequin blossoms; and given a bit of shine with my Wink of Stella brush.  I then topped it with the frog image which was black-embossed on watercolor paper, watercolored with Wild Wasabi and Garden Green inks, hand-cut out, lifted up over the mushroom with foam tape, and embellished with a couple of google eyes.
After adhering the envelope, with foam tape, in the center of the card face and stuffing it with a color-coordinating, by pure coincidence, gift card for the birthday boy, I grounded it with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a green label, "hoppy birthday!" sentiment to complete the look.
Here's your Creative Challenge No. 84 graphic to get you off and running in the right direction.
