Colour Me... Subtle!

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Well, hello there.  Just popping in with my take on Colour Me...!'s newest palette.  This one calls for Stampin' Up's Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo.  Many of you are familiar with or have read about the heartbreak that has recently rocked Heidi Swapp's world.  I don't know her.  She doesn't know me, but her family has consumed my thoughts and prayers over the last month.  I know that she's probably received a million beautiful creations with wishes from all over the world, but I still felt a nudging to pass another along.  So, this beauty is making its way to her mailbox even as this post goes live.
I started this card by piecing a trio of patterned papers onto the White, cardstock, card face and anchoring them all with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then stamped the top right corner, in Jet Black ink, with the "My thoughts and prayers are with you." sentiment.
The dogwoods were black-embossed on watercolor paper; water-colored in shades of Pink Passion, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey, and Wild Wasabi inks; hand-cut out; and adhered, with foam tape, over a tangle of silver thread.
The butterfly was prepared in the same way with the exception of being water-colored in shades of Barely Banana, Daffodil Delight, Summer Sun, and Tangerine Tango inks, as well as being coated with a little Wink of Stella.  A sprinkling of silver sequins completes the look.
Here's your Creative Challenge No. 85 graphic to get you off and running in the right direction.

Just gorgeous! Love the sparkle on the butterfly. In the face of such a loss I don't think Heidi will mind one bit if some more love and prayers find their way to her. Hugs!
