Family Update

Happy Friday, lovelies!  The weekend is almost here, and boy, am I ready for it!  I have a few things to finish up to have my kiddos ready to start school on Monday, but I'm feeling much better about doing so now.  It's time, and we really have had a great summer.  Over the last month, as a family, we paid another visit to our Kansas City Zoo.  We just can't get enough of that place.
We also took my big kiddo to the lake to camp with his grandpa and grandma and cousin.  We only stayed for dinner, but Ezekiel enjoyed the entire week, even once his cousin went home, with his grandparents.  On the evening of our visit, it was super hot; so, my littles cooled themselves down with a bucket of cold water.
Ezekiel came home with school clothes for both he and Adina.  Grandma is so good about that!
It worked out well for everyone that Adina's swim class yesterday ended up being an hour, instead of the usual 30 minutes, to make up for having to miss Wednesday due to the cool temps and rain.  She has turned into quite the little fish this summer.  With the exception of the butterfly, she swims all her strokes satisfactorily; and while the photo below shows her jumping off the low dive, she even got to go off the high dive for the first time last week.  She's so brave and just loves being in the water!
My kiddos and I met up with cousins on my hubby's side of the family, for an afternoon at the pool, last week.  They used to live in Olathe.  So, back when our big boys were little, they used to play together all the time; but when the boys were about two-years-old, they moved to Chicago.  Anyway, the last time we got to spend any quality time with them was way back here, and they were in town visiting their grandma/BJ's aunt last week and made a little time to catch up with us.  So fun!  Kaden was there with us for a couple of hours, but Daddy came home a little early from work to scoop him up for bath time and a nap, while the rest of us swam until our hearts were content.
Speaking of, my littlest is getting so big... well, not according to the stats his pediatrician gave us yesterday... but he still is!  He's caught up to everything he should be doing.  Although, he's not talking much.  Once in a while, though, he surprises us with, for example, a "Dear Jesus" as we sit down to pray together.  So, we know he can.  His big brother was a man of few words, too.  He sleeps twelve hours at night; and just last week, because Adina's swim class interfered with the timing of such, he cut out his morning nap.  But other than needing to lie down a little earlier after lunch for his, now, longer, afternoon nap and the occasional, random snooze, he seems to be doing okay without it.
He has the biggest sweet tooth!  Actually, all of my kiddos do.  I blame Grandpa ;).
Oh!  And remember the vegetable garden planters my hubby was building me over spring break?  Well, he finished!  Woohoo!  The final two still need to be filled with dirt/compost, but there won't be any planting again until next spring anyway.  So, we've got time.  We also sectioned off the entire area to connect with another garden surrounding our house and filled in with landscape fabric and mulch.  The farmer in me is just bursting at the seems with joy!
That about covers the high points.  Thank you so much for your prayers yesterday!  Being a mom is, truly, the hardest job I've ever had; and unfortunately, I'm not able to get away enough to keep me sane all of the time.  Some days are a hot mess!  Other days, everyone is bathed and wearing clean clothes, happy, educated, and rested.  The house is clean, and toys are picked up.  The dishes are even washed, and dinner is on the table at a reasonable hour.  Most days are somewhere in between.  I can handle most days.  This week, however, delivered far too many of the prior.  But today is a new day, and "This is the day the Lord has made; [I will] rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).  Blessings!

Love all the pics of your family Jinny. There is no doubt being a mom is the hardest job ever. Bigger kids; bigger problems. Don't really like that saying but it is true. I have no doubt you are an AWESOME mom. You're not alone!
