The Studio Proud Challenge

Sunday, August 30, 2015

Morning, friends!  Just popping back in, as promised, with my take on The Studio's newest challenge.  Whether it's having baked/decorated the perfect cake or just started the dream job you've sought after your whole life through, we want to see what you're proud of this go around.  I have so many things to be proud of, but most recently, I'm proud of my daughter for graduating kindergarten with flying colors.  She is such a good reader and always eager to tackle any challenge set before her.  Secretly, I think she's just trying to outdo her older brother, but a little competition never hurt anyone.  Right?!  I couldn't resist a pink and yellow palette supported by new Crate Paper and Pinkfresh collections found in my recent Hip Kit Club goodies.  Enjoy!
I started this layout by smudging Piglet and Sunshine Mister Huey's onto the grid, base page.  I then speckled the page with a little more of the same, as well as watered-down, Pure Black, acrylic paint, before arranging my photos.  One of the photos was matted with Whisper White cardstock, and the other was framed with a woodgrain, chipboard, instant mini.  Then, beginning in the top right corner and moving clockwise around the page, I tucked an "A", for Adina, flashcard to the right of and above my photos; anchored a "NOTED", file folder tab to its top edge with gold-threaded, messy, machine stitches; topped it with a hand-cut from patterned paper and glittered "6", as well as corrugated alphas to abbreviate "YRS."...
and grounded it with a floral die cut, backed with a tangle of gold thread; May 12, 2015, label; and beautiful, clay butterfly, handmade and gifted by my dear friend Annette Allen.  A yellow, heart, puffy sticker turns our attention to...
the "favorite GRADUATE" title which was created with Grey Flannel Flash Alphas and a gold foil, chipboard "favorite".
I then tucked a glittered, "LOVE" card to the left of that; topped it with a hand-cut, from patterned paper, "Just Be You!" oval and felt heart which was stapled to the page itself; and framed its bottom right corner with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I used those same stitches to frame the photo in the top left corner of the page, too.
I then slid a bulls-eye, "so happy", paper bit under that same photo and just to the left of the chipboard-framed one and dressed up its bottom corner with a "SMILE" tag, laced with black Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, as well as another floral die cut, backed with more gold thread.
My journaling can be found just below that and reads, I couldn't possibly be any more proud of you.  Keep that smile and always be yourself.  You're already doing such amazing things.
A chipboard, "HELLO" banner, dressed up with a crochet flower, flanked by a couple of gold, sequin leaves; pink label; and "let every day sparkle!" puffy sticker...
as well as healthy sprinklings of enamel dots and gold sequins and a gold, chipboard arrow, completes the look.
Looking forward to seeing where this one takes you all!  You have until September 13, 2015, to link up your takes, on this Proud Challenge and/or our previous, August Mood Board Challenge and/or Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio Blog.  Then, I'll be back with our first September challenge at that same time.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be sure to take a little jaunt over to the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired, too, and have a wonderfully blessed week!  Hugs!
