The Studio Shaped Photo Challenge

Sunday, September 13, 2015

I'm back with a fun, new challenge from The Studio, friends!  We're looking for pages with photos in any shape other than a rectangle this month.  I've been wanting to try hexagon-shaped photos for quite some time, so this challenge gave me the perfect reason to dive in head first.  I've also had these photos of my littlest sitting on my desk for over a month.  So, when my September Hip Kit Club goodies, which boasted colorful papers and playful elements that seemed to match them perfectly, arrived, there was no turning back.
I started this page by using a template to hand-cut a bunch of little hexagons from a variety of color-coordinating, patterned papers and anchoring them, to the sanded, whitewash, yellow, cardstock, base page, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then hand-cut my photos in the same way as the patterns themselves, matted them with Whisper White cardstock, and adhered them in their respective positions, grounding the whole look with a "TOTALLY cute" title, which was created from chipboard and transparent elements, backed by a little, truck sticker and embellished with a simple staple and die-cut, Whisper White, cardstock branch.
Moving counter-clockwise, I tucked an "XOXOXO" banner die cut under the edge of the bottom photo and added a little "PHOTO OPP" sticker below that.
A chipboard "WONDER", backed with a tangle of black thread; grounded with an arrow die cut; and topped with a "BOY" sticker, dresses up the top right corner of that same photo.
I then stapled a vellum "Always" under a hand-cut, from patterned paper, "REMEMBER" arrow and further embellished the top photo with a "MY GUY" sticker.
A balloon transparency, "just another ORDINARY DAY" word bubble, and "YOU MAKE ME LAUGH!" die cut round out the top edge of the last photo...
and overlap a "THE best day" transparency that has been looking for a permanent home for quite some time.  A scattering of blue, enamel hearts and simple, handwritten, 9.11.14 date complete the look.
You have until October 11, 2015, to link up your takes in the left-hand column of The Studio blog.  I can't wait to see how you all are inspired by this one!  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what the rest of the team has cooked up, too.  Then, we'll all be back in just a couple of weeks for our second challenge of the month.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a blessed Sunday, y'all!
