Colour Me... Striking!

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Hey, y'all!  I've got some super sweet pics to share of our trip to the orchard this weekend, but once again, I'm behind on editing.  I really should stop taking so many pics, but y'all know that's never going to happen.  LOL!  Anyway, I should have them ready to share tomorrow; but until then, we've got a brand spankin' new palette, to wet your creative appetites, up over at Colour Me...!  This week we're looking for creations using Stampin' Up's Cajun Craze and Hello Honey.  Here's how the colors and some new, Avery Elle goodies inspired me.  Oh, and I know that background is a little brighter than Hello Honey.  It matched the "MERCI" paper better in real life.
I started this card by piecing a couple of patterned papers onto the White, cardstock, card face; anchoring them with honey-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and wrapping their connection with a length of white, seam binding ribbon, tied, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face.
I then framed a hand-cut, from patterned paper, "MERCI" panel with a bit of Whisper White cardstock, as well as more honey-threaded, straight, machine stitches, and popped it off the center of the card face, just to the left of the bow, with foam tape.  Its bottom left corner was then embellished with a sweet puppy which was black-embossed on watercolor paper and watercolored with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  I then hand-cut him out, popped him up with foam tape, and added a little, bouncy ball behind him.  The ball was created in the same way as the puppy himself with the exception of being watercolored in Daffodil Delight and More Mustard inks.  I also couldn't help but tuck that stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a vellum, banner die cut, "WOOF" in behind that cutie.
Then, just before I did my stitching, I also stamped a hand-cut, Whisper White, cardstock pennant, in Jet Black ink, with the "you're DOG-GONE awesome" sentiment" and secured it, near the bottom left corner of the card face, flush against the patterned paper edge.
I'm linking this one up to Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge: Wonderful Watercolor.

And here's this week's Creative Challenge No. 93 graphic to get you going in the right direction.

Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  We'd also be honored to have you play along with us!  You have until 12 noon EST, on Monday, October 19, 2015, to link up your takes over at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out last week's playful Creative Challenge No. 92 Top Picks, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day!
