I started this card by piecing a trio of patterned papers together and rounding their collective bottom corners. Although it's difficult to see in the photos, I also embossed their combined center, with a large, Rounded Rectangle die, to help frame the centerpiece. I then anchored them, along with the stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a strip of vellum, "hey there SWEETIE" sentiment, to the White, cardstock, card face, which, too, had its bottom corners rounded, with bright-pink-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
I then black embossed the cupcake stand, as well as the cupcake itself, on a Rounded Rectangle, watercolor, paper die cut; watercolored it in shades of Basic Gray for shading and Chocolate Chip; and topped it with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a piece of bright pink, text, patterned paper, "HB2U" banner, which was hand-cut out. The flower itself was black embossed on a watercolor, paper die cut and watercolored in shades of Pumpkin Pie and Elegant Eggplant before being adhered, along with the patterned, paper, cupcake liner, which was stamped in Jet Black ink and hand-cut out, to embellish the chocolate cupcake itself. The entire watercolored piece was then tucked under the sentiment; popped off the card face with foam tape...
Further inspiration for this card came from Wplus9 Design's Throwback Thursday Challenge #8. I was inspired by Maureen's first card to pull out and layer those Rounded Rectangle die cuts, even if one of mine was actually embossed. And here's this week's Creative Challenge No. 94 graphic to get you going in the right direction.
