Vacation Pics

Welcome to the weekend, friends!  Just popping in to share a few pics of my family's recent trip to Branson, Missouri.  We've wanted to check out Silver Dollar City's Homeschool Weekend now for several years and, while we didn't get our trip organized with enough time to take advantage of the exclusive classes, decided this was the fall to do it.  So, we took off, after work and school, last Friday, got a good night's rest, and woke up ready to tackle the day.
We spent the entire day Saturday exploring the city and riding the rides...
but one little, water ride did the majority of us in.  It was a cool day, and being wet wasn't ideal, but somebody thought doing it twice was a good idea.  I won't name names, BJ ;).  It had been a long day, though; and while we had much of the park left to see, part of the beauty of this particular weekend was that we had an entire extra day to do it.
Sunday began with a tour of Marvel Cave.
Kaden wasn't a fan, but we made it through; and after some lunch to fill our tummies, we were revived to see the rest of the park...
including taking Ezekiel on his first real roller coaster.  I'm still unsure of how he convinced himself it would be okay to go.  This is the boy who never liked riding on his Daddy's shoulders or getting underdogs on the swings.  After the first ten seconds, I was feeling guilty for letting him, and I don't think we'll be getting him on another any time soon.  To say he wasn't a fan is a severe understatement.
Day three, in Branson, began with a tour of the Titanic Museum.  They don't allow photos inside the museum itself, so I took one of the outside to remember our time there.  We learned a ton about this tragic event in history, but I can't say as I'd visit again.  They gave each of us an audio paddle to type key codes into to learn about the individual displays.  It was very individualized and left little room for interaction with one another.  Obviously, keeping up with Kaden made it difficult to get the most out of each exhibit.  So, we went home with a few children's books from the gift shop to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle.
By day four, we were ready to get away from the city.  So, we drove out to Table Rock Lake.  We fed the fish at the marina and soaked up the peace and quiet.  There's just something about nature that brings everything back into perspective.
My hubby bought tickets for me and the big kids to see Jonah at Sight and Sound Theater that night.  He said that I'm usually the one that gets left behind, taking care of one kiddo or another.  So, he figured my time was long overdue.  Again, we couldn't take photos of the production itself, but we were blessed beyond words and highly recommend visiting.
Ezekiel and Adina even asked if we could come back next year to see Moses.
BJ and Kaden took a little nap and went swimming back at the hotel, but we brought Kaden back a stuffed whale, so he didn't feel too left out ;).
It's getting harder and harder to accommodate everyone in a single hotel room.  We're thinking renting an RV to park by the lake, where there's plenty of room to run and explore, might be a better option for the next time around.  But by this last night in Branson, everyone actually went to sleep when they were supposed to.
We headed home Wednesday morning but paused to explore Springfield Botanical Gardens...
and have a yummy lunch at Lambert's Cafe.
The laundry was nearly done by the time we hit the sack, in our own beds, that night; and while my hubby had the remainder of this week off from work, we simply used the time to get some things done around the house.  There'll be plenty of time for our organized studies next week.  Thanks so much for checking in on us!  Now, get out there and make the most of your Saturdays!  Hugs!
