I started this card by black-embossing the poinsettia image on a piece of watercolor paper. I then watercolored it in shades of Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Garden Green, and Pumice Stone inks. I also outlined the flower with Pumice Stone Distress Ink, but it's difficult to see that here. It's much more striking in real life. I then spritzed over everything with Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey, Old Olive, and Pool Party inks before coating the petals with a little clear Wink of Stella for shine.
The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive ink, and a strip of red, polka dot, patterned paper trims the space below it.
I then distressed the edges of everything with Tea Dye and Antique Linen Distress Inks before anchoring it, to a piece of Old Olive cardstock, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches. The space between the prepped and patterned papers was then wrapped with a length of Baker's Twine, which was tied, in a bow, just left of vertical center, before being adhered, to the Oatmeal, cardstock, card face, with foam tape.
Here's this week's Creative Challenge No. 97 graphic to get you going in the right direction.
