The Studio Pinterest Challenge

Sunday, November 22, 2015

Morning, friends!  Just popping in, as promised, with my take on The Studio's newest challenge.  We've got a gorgeous pin (See below.) to inspire your creative time this month.  Here's how I was inspired.
I started this page by smudging the textured, white, cardstock, base page in Patina Glimmer Mist.  I then smeared a little Spun Sugar Distress Ink through a chevron stencil and stamped the page, in Coastal Cabana and Real Red inks, with a trio of different stars.  After placing my patterned papers, backed with a bit of gold, foil, striped vellum, near the center of my page, I splattered everything with Titanium White and Pure Black acrylic paints, as well as Gold Color Shine.  Once the page was completely dry, I anchored my mix of papers, as well as some hand-cut, from patterned paper, triangles, with gold-threaded, straight and messy, machine stitches.
I then filled a cellophane envelope with some fantastic, little, sequin stars, that I found in the jewelry aisle at Hobby Lobby, and tucked it in behind my photo, which was matted with Whisper White cardstock and wrapped with a length of Baker's Twine, tied, in a bow, near the bottom left corner of the photo.
The "Happy together" title was created from a gold, foil, "Happy" sticker and silver, glitter, foam, "together" sticker.  I've avoided mixing silver and gold, for one reason or another, in the past but no more.  I love it!  A sweet, little, mouse die cut...
turns our attention to the grouping in the top left corner of the page, where I tucked red, stripe Polaroid and house die cuts.  A "25th" circle die cut; sprinkling of silver, glitter, foam and teal, puffy, star stickers; and trio of phrase die cuts, both here...
and to ground the page, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Picture This' November 15th Challenge (1 photo, cardstock, and gold) and ScrapMuch?'s Sketch-y Friday November 13th Challenge.
And here's your Pinterest Challenge from The Studio.  I was drawn to the triangle and woodgrain elements and knew that I wanted to tie in a little bit of gray as inspired by that yummy floor.  The mirror itself influenced my bits of shimmer and shine.  I also loved the mix of metals and, of course, the word "HAPPY".  The nature-inspired color palette so badly wanted to become a part of my page, but I had a super, fabulous, Hip Kit Club package lying on my desk, screaming for some attention.  It, obviously, won the battle.
You have until Sunday, December 6, 2015, to link up your takes, on this week's challenge and/or our previous Fall Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio Blog.  Can't wait to see what you all cook up!  Thanks so much for peeking in!  Have a terrific week!
