Colour Me... Monochromatic!

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  Just popping in with Colour Me...!'s newest palette.  Unfortunately, it will also be their last.  Tara and Hayley are closing down shop due to an overload of other responsibilities.  So, before I get to this week's creation, I have to send out a HUGE thank you to these sweet ladies for giving me the opportunity to be on their team and for inspiring us all for 100 fabulous challenges.  Mwah!
I started this card by clear embossing a piece of watercolor paper with the snowflake background and watercoloring over it with a bit of Pearl Glimmer Mist mixed in.  It has such a sweet sparkle in real life.  I then die-cut a trio of snowflakes from it; strategically layered them throughout the design itself; and backed the original cutouts with dictionary paper.
The larger snowflake was die-cut from patterned paper; backed with a tangle of silver thread; adhered overlapping the right side of the design; and topped with the "hello BIRTHDAY GIRL" sentiment, which was created from a silver, glitter, paper die cut and stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a strip of vellum, "BIRTHDAY GIRL".  Everything was then secured to the White, cardstock, card face with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then clipped the strip of vellum and large, snowflake die cut flush with the edges of the card face, before sprinkling on a healthy dose of clear gemstones, as well as a trio of snowflake sequins, to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Time Out's Challenge #45: Snowflakes Are Winter's Butterflies, and here's this week's Creative Challenge No. 100 graphic to get you going in the right direction.

Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  We'd also love to have you play along with us one last time!  You have until 12 noon EST, on Monday, December 7, 2015, to link up your takes over at that same challenge link above.  Don't forget to check out last week's Creative Challenge No. 99 Top Picks, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  And if you're not a regular follower of my blog, I hope that you'll continue on my creative journey with me.  There's so much more to come.  Hugs!
