Grace at Christmas is written by Mary Hoffman and illustrated by Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu. From the decorations and gifts to the food and nativity story, Grace loves Christmas. It has always been just her, Ma, and Nana for as long as she can remember. But this year, strangers, from Trinidad, are joining in their celebrations; and Grace isn't sure she wants to make room, especially when a little girl, about the same age as Grace, arrives with her mother and isn't very friendly, either. But when the girls realize how much they have in common, a fast friendship begins to form. A little kindness and another surprise guest help turn this Christmas into the best one yet.
Now, on to that list. The last one has been added since last year, but I also removed a few that, while their messages are excellent for this time of year, didn't specifically talk about Christmas.
