Reverse Confetti SFYTT #31

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Welcome to December, friends!  I'm feeling a bit melancholy after our Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  A friend termed the sentiment as "anticipointment".  It's fun to think of and even look forward to seeing family for the holidays, but when it comes to getting all the personalities that come with family together, it can often times leave one disappointed with the overall visit.  My hubby says to think of how you felt about going to see Stars Wars Episode I in theater and compare it to how you felt afterward.  LOL!  So, I thought I'd pull out Jolly Holiday, for this month's Reverse Confetti Sketch for You to Try, just because it can't help but put a smile on one's face, to try to cheer myself up.
I started this card by smudging Patina and Leap Frog Glimmer Mists onto a White, cardstock, card face, which had its top corners rounded; stamping it, in Jet Black ink, with the snowflakes; and splattering it with both Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints.
I then wrapped it, vertically, with a length of white, seam binding ribbon; tied it, in a double bow, near the top edge of the card face; and embellished it with a gingham ribbon bow, bit of black lace, and red button, laced with a Baker's Twine bow.
A piece of multicolored, triangle, patterned paper was framed with Real Red cardstock; anchored, in the bottom center of the card face, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches; stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "jolly holiday wishes" sentiment...
and topped with a layered, White, cardstock, Wreaths die cut.  In the center of the wreath, I added the sweet Santa and reindeer, both of which were black-embossed on watercolor paper and watercolored with my new Gansai Tambi set.  Eeek!  LOVE!  A little Glossy Accents for the reindeer's nose and a sprinkling of enamel dots and clear gemstones complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Simon Says Stamp's Work It Wednesday Challenge: Make a Holiday Card, and here's your Sketch for You to Try #31 graphic to get you started.
Have fun with it, and thanks so much for stopping by my neck of the woods!  Blessings!

Such a great modern design without being too simple! The embellishments are what we all love, but it's so hard to find a perfect balance between messiness! You have definitely achieved the perfect middle ground on this one! I so love the triangle paper and the organic quality of it, as if it were hand painted. That goes perfectly with your colored Santa! Darling creation! <3
