The Studio Texture Challenge

Sunday, January 31, 2016

Morning, friends!  Just stopping in, as promised, with my take on The Studio's last challenge of the month.  We're looking for pages with texture this go around.  I had so much fun getting messy with gesso, paints, mists, watercolors, and inks for this challenge!  I even dusted off my modeling paste.  Woohoo!  Additionally, I've added texture with stitching, vellum, glossy brads, smooth chipboard, thread, enamel hearts, embossing, a hint of clear Wink of Stella, and more.  Enjoy!
I started this page by smudging the pink, gradient, base page with gesso and Sky Mr. Huey's.  I then smeared Pumice Stone Distress Ink, through a chevron stencil, pointing both vertically and horizontally toward where my photograph would eventually lie, before pulling out another stencil to add a few hearts with modeling paste, tinted with Sky Mr. Huey's.  My papers were then positioned, but before anchoring a number of them with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches, I splattered everything with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints, as well as a little more yet of that Sky Mr. Huey's.  My photo was matted with Whisper White cardstock and adhered, with foam tape, over the patterned paper stack, as well as a Cameo-cut, vellum heart, which, too, was secured with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The "do what YOU LOVE" title was Cameo-cut from textured, white cardstock; splattered in the same way as the page itself; and adhered along the vertical edge of an inked chevron stack.
A hand-cut, from patterned paper, "YOU ARE MY GREATEST ADVENTURE" pennant was adhered, with foam tape, just to the left of my title and tucked into the paper stack.  It was also dressed up with a little, die-cut, Rose Red cardstock heart to which I applied clear Wink of Stella for shine.
The "hello lovely" wreath was hand-cut from patterned paper and used as the base for the secondary cluster.  It was topped with a "Write your own story" banner, which was anchored with soft pink brads, as well as a Cameo-cut, from gold cardstock, "smile"...
and grounded with a gradient, chipboard arrow, as well as my journaling, which reads, It was so fun to make these little bear boxes for your basketball buddies.  Valentine's Day 2015.
The entire grouping leads to a large, chipboard, floral element, topped with a darling, little, cow image.  The cow was black-embossed on watercolor paper; watercolored; stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "you MOOOVE me" phrase; and backed with a tangle of gold thread.
A sprinkling of stamped, in Jet Black ink, hearts; pink, enamel hearts; more die-cut hearts, prepared in the same way as the one described on the pennant above; chipboard hearts...
and even a gold-rimmed, butterfly brad complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Clique Kit Club's January Challenge: Anything Goes, Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge: Love Is in the Air, and The Memory Nest's Make It Monday No. 52.
I'm looking forward to seeing all those textures, lovelies!  You have until Sunday, February 14, 2016, to link up your takes, on any and/or all of our January challenges, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and have an amazing week!
