The Challenge #60

Monday, February 15, 2016

Welcome to the work week, y'all, and thank you for all your well wishes for my little bear.  He's still feeling rough.  So, we're home again from storytime, at our local library, this time; but I'm sure he'll be back to his old self soon with a little, tender, loving care and lots of extra cuddle time.  So, I'm popping in to share my take on our newest challenge from The Challenge.  We've got a festive palette to wet your creative appetites this week.  Here goes.
I started this card by white-embossing the pig image in the bottom right corner of a piece of watercolor paper, as well as on a separate scrap piece.  I then watercolored the area surrounding the little pig, as well as the pig itself and the heart and front hooves of the scrap image.  The flies were stamped, in Jet Black ink, along with the "HOGS & kisses" sentiment on the scrap image.  The image itself was then masked in preparation for a little Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paint splattering, before anchoring the entire thing, to a piece of Pink Ballet cardstock, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then hand-cut out the scrap, heart image; popped it up, with foam tape, off the front of the card face; and covered it with a bit of clear Wink of Stella.
Before securing the prepped piece, with foam tape, to the Basic Gray, cardstock, card face, a chipboard "FOR YOU my LOVE" banner was anchored, in the top left corner of the prepped piece, with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  A bit of gray, chevron ribbon, tied in a bow, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Cupcake Inspirations' Challenge 347: Love...
and Avery Elle's February Challenge #33: Friendship.  In my life, girlfriends have come and gone; but this card was for the one friend who, although he doesn't always get it and can drive me absolutely crazy, has stuck by me through all the ups and downs.  He's my very best friend, my hubby.
And here's your The Challenge #60 graphic to get you off and running in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  You have until Sunday, February 22, 2016, at noon PST, to add your takes to the linky at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out The Challenge #59 Winners, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hugs!
