The Challenge #63

Monday, March 7, 2016

Morning, y'all!  What a whirl of a weekend we had!  I'm sure I'll get around to sharing pics soon enough, but in the meantime, how about a fun, new sketch from The Challenge?  My hubby's youngest brother just recently got engaged, and I've been meaning to send he and his fiance a congratulatory card and fast, too, because the wedding is just over two months away.  This week's sketch seemed to fit the bill, and I'm super happy with the outcome.  Here goes.
I started this card by framing a bit of ivory, text, patterned paper with a slightly larger piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, which had its right side die-cut with a scallop edge.  I then white-embossed the "For a Special Couple" sentiment on a strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock; adhered it near the base of the prepped piece; and anchored everything with chocolate-threaded, straight, machine stitches running around the outside edges of the patterned print, before adhering it, with foam tape, to the White, cardstock, card face.
The dogwoods were then white-embossed on watercolor paper; watercolored; hand-cut out; adhered in the center of the prepped piece and overlapping the sentiment strip; and given a hint of shine with clear Wink of Stella, which is totally not showing up here, and I tried and tried and tried to capture it.  Sigh.  The butterflies were white-embossed on vellum; hand-cut out; and adhered, around and behind the dogwoods, in the pattern of the stars from the sketch below.
A random scattering of woodgrain (Aren't they scrumptious?!), pearl, and Pink Blush sequins, as well as a bit of white, seam binding ribbon, tied in a double bow and embellished with a single pearl, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge: Touchy Feely and Sunday Stamps' Challenge 121...
and here's this week's The Challenge #63 sketch to get you off and running in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  You have until Sunday, March 13, 2016, at noon PST, to add your takes to the linky at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out The Challenge #62 Winners, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fabulous work week, friends!
