The Challenge #64

Monday, March 14, 2016

Welcome back, y'all!  Just stopping back in to share this week's palette from The Challenge.  As soon as I saw this one, I knew exactly which stamp set I wanted to use and that it would be for my nephew, who will be celebrating his 3rd birthday next month.  I'm pretty sure it's safe to share here now, though, as his mom and dad aren't regular visitors to my blog.  So, here goes.
I started this card by anchoring a number of patterned papers, two of which span the horizontal length of the card face just above center and another which was cut in the shape of a pennant, to the White cardstock, card face, with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then wrapped a length of Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon, around the card face, over the horizontal, paper strips; tied it, in a bow, near the left edge of the card face; and embellished it with a bit of gray, chevron ribbon, tied in a bow, as well as a lime button blossom, laced with white string, tied in a bow.
The elephant, as well as his balloon, after a bit of selective masking, were black embossed on watercolor paper; partially die-cut in the shape of a circle and hand-cut the rest of the way; and watercolored.  A little, white, gel pen detailing for the elephant and clear Wink of Stella for the balloon prep it for the card face to which it was adhered, just to the right of the ribbon bow, with foam tape.
The "happiest wishes to you" sentiment was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a die-cut, vellum banner and tucked under the bottom edge of the elephant's circle.  A scattering of stamped, in Jet Black ink, stars and silver star confetti complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge: A Bit 'O Green and Sugar Pea Design's Sugar Sketch 43...
and here's this week's The Challenge #64 graphic to get you off and running in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  You have until Sunday, March 20, 2016, at noon PST, to add your takes to the linky at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out The Challenge #63 Winners, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be blessed!
