The Studio Flowers Challenge

Sunday, March 27, 2016

Happy Easter, friends!  Just stopping in to share The Studio's newest challenge.  As spring is in the air, we want to see you use flowers, anyway, anyhow, on your pages this week.  My whole take started with the floral, acrylic, Pink Paislee "HELLO" across the bottom.  I built in more florals in the form of Freckled Fawn's felt and resin blooms, patterned prints, stamping, wet embossing, and even watercoloring through a stencil.  They seem to frame a few of my little bear's birth pictures perfectly.
I started this page by layering a trio of patterned prints, as well as a couple of others that I cut in the form of pennants, onto the woodgrain, patterned, paper, base page, which had been smudged with Sunshine Mister Huey's and Patina Glimmer Mist.  I then stamped a handful of blooms in Jet Black ink and splattered over everything with the same mists mentioned above, as well as Sky Mister Huey's and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry, I anchored a few of the prints with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches and topped them with my photo grid, which was matted with white cardstock.  Everything was then grounded with said acrylic bits above, which were secured with a few simple staples and topped with a Cameo-cut, from Whisper White cardstock, "baby".
An "I'M HERE FOR YOU" phrase was then stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a vellum, banner die cut and tucked under the baby's "y".
Moving clockwise, I anchored a couple of Jumbo brads to either side of the bottom left photo and wrapped a length of white string back-and-forth through them several times before tying it in a bow.
The secondary cluster, at the top of the photos, was anchored with a large, yellow bloom that I created with a little watercolor and a stencil and hand-cut out.  The aqua bloom was wet embossed, with Pool Party embossing powder, on vellum and, once again, hand-cut out.  Both were topped with a felt bloom; and an acrylic tag, which was laced with white string, was sandwiched between them.  A couple of yellow, enamel hearts top the design.
The main cluster was formed with a number of blooms created in the same way as described above.  I also tucked in a couple of twigs, die-cut from Whisper White cardstock, as well as a resin bloom.  The felt bloom was backed with a tangle of gold thread, and I tucked a bird die cut in amidst it all.  The bird had an orange beak, but it stood out like a sore thumb.  A little, black ink covered it perfectly, and some white gel pen detailing completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Scrap Our Stash's March Sketch + 3 Challenge (If you take away the manufacturers and the color hot pink, I pulled the remainder of each list into my take.)...
and Clique Kits' April Mood Board.  I was inspired by the overall yellow and aqua/teal palette, as well as the woodgrain tabletop/soda crate, "hello" on the door front, florals, and wide black stripes of the floor cushions.
You have until Sunday, April 10, 2016, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!
