The Studio Landscape Challenge

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Morning, y'all!  I'm stopping in today with the latest challenge from The Studio.  We're looking for layouts boasting landscape photos this week.  It could be a great view or a sunset or whatever, but we don't want to see any people in the photo(s).  I have tons of these; but I tend not to scrap them, because they never do the memory justice.  I'm still thrilled to have gotten these beautiful photographs, of our last visit to Colorado, onto a page.  I used lots of goodies from a variety of manufacturers, including Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes, and Pink Paislee.
I started this page by adhering a trio of scrap prints near the center of the multicolored, triangle, base page and splattering over everything with Piglet, Sky, and Sunshine Mister Huey's, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once it was dry, I anchored those scrap prints with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  After placing my photos, which were matted with white cardstock, I tucked a "BRAVO", paper cut-away in the top left corner of the grid and topped it with my "SILVERTON, CO" title, which was created with foam, glitter Thickers.  An acrylic tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, was tucked in behind the cut-away; and it was further embellished with an acrylic "c'est la vie" arrow and ephemera ticket upon which I scribbled the June 20, 2008, date.
A "HAND CRAFTED" Polaroid partially frames one of the photos...
and another cut-away anchors the left side of the bottom one.  I also tossed a sweet, chipboard bird and an acrylic "6" into the mix.
I then tucked a scrap strip of gold, foil, polka dot vellum under the combined right edges of the photo grid and embellished the bottom right corner with a mint tag.  The tag was laced with white string, anchored with a couple of staples, and topped with a cork, glitter heart, backed with a tangle of gold thread, as well as a "hello!" phrase sticker.  A single brad, just to pull a little more yellow into the right side of the design, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Scrap Our Stash's March Book-Inspired Stash Challenge.  I found inspiration in the palette itself, as well as in a number of the prints found within the design; and I couldn't resist throwing in triangles, as well as a heart, as inspired by the banners.
You have until Sunday, April 10, 2016, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team has done, too.  Thanks for stopping by!  I never mean to be away from here for so long, but well, life just keeps me running.  So, thanks so much, too, for hanging in there with me and visiting when I'm able to find a little time to get creative in my happy place and share.  It just puts the biggest smile on my face.  Have a fabulous week!
