The Studio White with One Challenge

Sunday, April 24, 2016

Morning, y'all!  I hope you're all enjoying your weekends.  Ours has been another busy one, beginning with our area's annual, homeschool conference, which is totally refreshing but takes a lot out of us at the same time.  We also had tons of yard work yesterday, but on a happier note, Adina scored her first soccer goal.  Woohoo!  And we've got guests today; church; and one of Ezekiel's baseball games, not to mention Awana, tonight.  Busy, busy, busy!  I need to get pictures together, for a Family Update, soon.  But until then, we've got another, April challenge up in The Studio.  We're looking for layouts boasting the color white with only one other color this go around.  Of course, a few black accents are fine.  I chose blue to go with pics of my kiddos showing off a little of their Kansas City Royals fever.  Enjoy!
I started this page by smudging Patina Glimmer Mist and Bonny Blue Mister Huey's onto the textured, white, cardstock, base page.  I then smeared a little Faded Jeans Distress Ink through a stencil, before placing a number of blue prints in the center of the design.  Monochromatic pages don't usually agree with me, but I've found that the more shades of the same color I can coordinate into a design the less flat it appears.  One of those patterned papers was punched with large circles just to create a little interest; and a number of them were anchored with blue-threaded, straight, machine stitches, before everything was splattered with more of the same mists mentioned above, as well as True Blue, Pure Black, and Titanium White acrylic paints.  After matting my pics with white cardstock and placing them in a sloppy grid, along with the hand-cut, from patterned paper, "10", I created the "Royal BLUE forever" title.  The word "Royal" was Cameo-cut from Bashful Blue cardstock and glittered.  The color "BLUE" was formed from Deep Sea Flash Alphas, and "forever" was a pre-made, foam sticker.
To the left of the title I secured a couple of die-cut, vellum branches beneath a blue label used for my journaling, which reads, celebrating a victorious postseason with our KC Royals.  The right edge of the label was grounded with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on watercolor paper, glove and ball.  It was watercolored, hand-cut out, backed with a tangle of blue thread, and popped up with foam tape.
A length of blue twine stretches, through a couple of blue eyelets, from one side of the page under the photos to the opposite side, where it was tied in a bow.
The grid itself was grounded with "PLAY. LAUGH. GROW" and "REMEMBER" stickers.  The latter was anchored with a white button, laced with white string.  A scattering of designer, circle reinforcers, as well as the stamped, in Jet Black ink, "**celebrating** NOV 03 2015" date, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Show Us Your Stuff's April Challenge: Get Creative with Stamps.  You have until Sunday, May 8, 2016, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a truly spectacular week, friends!  Hugs!
