Paper Sweeties May Release Sneak Peek

Friday, May 13, 2016

Evening, y'all!  I'm back, as promised, with a card, boasting images from a fantastic, Paper Sweeties May Release.  Debbie has whipped up a playful, new, Sweet Borders stamp set with coordinating dies, as well as a Best Dad stamp set.  Best Dad is perfect for your upcoming Father's Day celebrations, but it really is a must-have for creating beautiful projects for all the men in your life; as it includes more than just the words "Dad", "Father", or the "Man" I've used below.  It's additionally packed with "Dude", "Brother", "Son", "Uncle", and "Groomsman", not to mention builders like "Grand" and "Step".  Debbie's thought of everything, folks!  So, enough talk.  Let's just get started.
I started this card by trimming the top edge of a piece of map, patterned paper with a strip of black, chevron, patterned paper, as well as a scrap of soft green, arrow, patterned paper.  I then anchored them, to the white, cardstock, card face and over a black, floral print, which had already been adhered in the bottom center of the card face, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
A manila tag, which I stamped over and over, in Jet Black ink, with the partial, "Thanks" sentiment, was then tucked under the top edge of the chevron print; laced with a length of waxed chord; and topped with a bit of black twill tape, tied in a knot, as well as a Charcoal twine bow.
Jake was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on watercolor paper; watercolored; hand-cut out; and dressed with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on both white cardstock and a gray, pinstripe, patterned paper, suit.  It was then hand-cut out and given a little detailing with a black artist pen.
I couldn't help but give you a close-up of the Glossy Accents I added to his shoes.
Finally, I stamped the stitched frame, as well as its completed, "for being a great Man", sentiment filler, in Jet Black ink, on vellum; hand-cut it out; and tucked it under Jake and over his left arm to complete the look.
The idea for this card all began with Inspired by All the Little Things' Challenge #14.  My hubby is taking our oldest on another, summer, mission trip, to Mexico, next month; and I always like to try to sneak a handmade card into his bag, when he goes on trips.  They don't always make it home, but he enjoys finding them.  Anyway, those map-printed cupcake wrappers were all the inspiration I needed to make sure I've got one ready to go.
Further inspiration for this card came from  House of Cards' May Challenge: Clear Papers.
That gets us started.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has cooked up, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope to see you all right back here at the same time tomorrow.  Until then, have an amazing start to your weekends!  Hugs!

Beautiful card, Jinny! I love all the amazing layers with patterned paper. I have never given a thought to using watercolor paper on the Oaper Sweeties kids. It's a great idea and I'm going togive it a try.
