The Challenge #71

Monday, May 2, 2016

Happy Monday, y'all!  I trust you all had wonderful weekends.  Despite our stormy start, Adina's soccer game went on as scheduled.  The fields were far enough south that they didn't get the amount of moisture we did up north.  The moisture kept temperatures cool, too; but we still got lots of yard work done and found plenty of time to just relax.  That's what the weekend is supposed to be about anyway.  Right?  Relaxing.  Anyhow, I'm just popping in with a fabulous, new sketch from The Challenge.  Enjoy!
I started this card by embossing the white, cardstock, card face with a heap of polka dots.  I then anchored a couple of patterned papers, vertically, in the left half of the card face, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  A yellow, polka dot, patterned paper was trimmed, across its top and bottom, horizontal edges, with bitty scallops and die-cut circles, before being anchored, just below horizontal center, with more white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I then dressed up the center of the latter with a length of white, seam binding ribbon, which I tied, in a double bow, just left of center and embellished with a Pool Party ribbon, tied in a bow, as well as a bright pink button, laced with a white, string bow.
A circle was then die-cut from watercolor paper; watercolored; anchored, to a white, cardstock, scalloped, circle die cut, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and filled in with the sweet, little, koala image.  The image itself was black-embossed on a watercolor, paper die cut; colored in with watercolors; and given a bit more detailing with Glossy Accents for the nose and white, Gelly Roll pen specks for the cheeks.
Before being adhered, with foam tape, just to the top right of the embellished bow, I stamped its outside edge, in Jet Black ink, with the "welcome, little one" sentiment.  A scattering of yellow, floral sequins completes the look.
I'm linking this on up to Simon Says Stamps' Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes...
and here's this week's The Challenge #71 sketch to get you off and creating in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  You have until Sunday, May 8, 2016, at noon PST, to add your takes to the linky at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out The Challenge #70 Winners, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have an amazing week!
