The Challenge #72

Monday, May 9, 2016

Happy Monday, y'all!  I know I'm a little late in doing so, but I'm sending out this Mother's Day beauty, which was given to my own mother and created for this week's sketch at The Challenge, to all the moms out there.  Hope you had a blessed Mother's Day!
I started this card by adhering a piece of ikat, patterned paper to the left side of the white, cardstock, card face and topping it with a sheet of vellum, embossed with bitty polka dots.  I then created the centerpiece by piecing a bit of Crumb Cake cardstock, along with a strip of arrow, patterned paper, as well as a scrap of yellow, diamond, patterned paper, onto a piece of white cardstock and anchored them with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  The kraft bit was stamped, with the wreath and all its parts and pieces, in Garden Green, Brilliant Blue, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Daffodil Delight, and White inks.  I then white-embossed the "on Mother's Day" sentiment over it and embellished with a few clear gemstones.
Before adhering it, with foam tape, in the center of the card face, a length of white, seam binding ribbon was wrapped just below that wreath; tied in a double bow; and embellished with a bit of Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon, Baker's Twine, and simple enamel dot to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this card came from House of Cards' May Challenge: Clear Papers...
and Simon Says Stamp's Work It Wednesday: Flowers.
And here's this week's The Challenge #72 graphic to get you off and creating in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  You have until Sunday, May 15, 2016, at noon PST, to add your takes to the linky at that same challenge link above.  And don't forget to check out The Challenge #71 Winners, too.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fantastic week, friends!
