The Studio Sketch Challenge

Sunday, June 5, 2016

Morning, friends!  Just popping in, while I'm hopefully still snoozing, with a scheduled post for The Studio.  Anna's cooked up a beautiful, new sketch for our first June challenge, which inspired me to scrap one of my favorite photos of my gorgeous girl.  Enjoy!
I started this page by smudging a little, pink watercolor, over gesso, onto the black, polka dot, base page.  I then layered several prints, as well as a wax envelope, below where my photo, which was matted with white cardstock, would lie; splattered everything with several different, color-coordinating watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints; and anchored a couple of those said prints with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  The Rosey Posey cut file was die-cut from watercolor paper, watercolored, splattered with more of the same acrylic paints mentioned above, and tucked over the prints and under the photo itself.  The "beautiful YOU" title was hand-cut from patterned paper and a Citrus Twist, cut-away sheet.  The prior was then anchored with a couple of staples and topped with another cut-away, popped up with foam tape; and the latter was tucked under the bottom edge of the photo itself with more foam tape.
The bottom right corner of my photo was embellished with a hand-cut, from patterned paper, swan, which was dressed up with a white, string bow and popped up with foam tape.  I then tucked a "today" die cut and pink, cut-away label under its feathers.  The latter was stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "photo of the week" phrase, and I hand-wrote the 7.13.15 date.  You can also get a glimpse of a few of the stamped waves, which I added to the overall design, here.  Both the waves...
and the word "Enjoy", which can be found amidst those yummy, cork clouds at the top of the page, were stamped in Jet Black ink.
"MEET ME IN THE SUNSHINE!"...
"PRACTICE HAPPY"...
and "let's be adventurers" stickers were then tossed into the mix, amidst a "HELLO DARLING" cut-away and chipboard bloom.  A healthy scattering of pink, enamel dots completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from The Cut Shoppe's June Cut It Out Challenge...
and here's this month's Sketch Challenge to get you off and creating in the right direction.
You have until Sunday, July 3, 2016, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of our talented team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  It may be a bit quiet around here this week.  We've got Vacation Bible School, and I might've got talked into teaching Kaden's class.  Please pray for me, and have a fantastic week, y'all!
