I started this page by smudging Patina Glimmer Mist, as well as Piglet and Sunshine Mister Huey's, onto the textured, white, cardstock, base page. A little Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink was also sponged through a polka dot stencil. I then used the Just Nick cut file and my Cameo to cut a number of angled strips from a variety of coordinating prints; anchored a few of them with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching; and splattered everything with the same mists above, as well as Sky Mister Huey's and Pure Black & Titanium White acrylic paints. I also mixed True Blue and Paradise acrylic paints to get a perfect match to that blue, diamond print and splattered a bit of that round about the design, too.
My photo was then matted with white cardstock and backed with a bit of cheesecloth; polka dot Polaroid; large, kraft envelope, folded in half...
and a wax envelope, stuffed with a manila tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, as well as a few mementos from our trip to the ballpark.
The photo itself was grounded with my journaling, which was just hand-scripted on a gingham, journaling card and reads, We arrived in MN just in time to check in to our hotel and head out to Target Field to cheer our KC Royals on to another win. It was so fun counting the helicopters cutting between the sky scrapers, getting a few Twins fans to join in our Royals chants, and munching on Jelly Bellies.
Its bottom left corner was embellished with a floral die cut, backed with a tangle of black thread and popped up with foam tape. A stamped, in Brocade Blue ink, on punched, white cardstock, bloom, as well as a punched, vellum blossom, embellished with a single, red, enamel dot and a "love it", arrow die cut, round out the cluster. The stamped and die-cut flowers' centers were given a bit of dimension and shine with Glossy Accents.
Its top right corner was embellished with a number of other stamped and die-cut florals, adhered and embellished in the same ways described above, as well as a cut-apart label, which houses my hand-scripted, Mon. Aug. 18, 2014, date, and printed, Twins circle. The latter was actually found on the tickets we purchased online. I just used a circle die to cut it out and backed it with another white, cardstock circle, of the same size, just for stability.
My dual "happy/BETTER @ the ballpark" title was created from a "happy" die cut; black, foam, phrase sticker; Deep Sea Flash Alphas; and a Cameo-cut, from Ruby Red cardstock, "ballpark". The latter was coated in more Glossy Accents to add interest and shine.
A couple of phrase stickers, as well as a "GO SEE DO" cut-apart and one final, floral die cut complete the look.
But that's not all. SURPRISE! I turned this one into a two-pager.
The right side of the design was prepped in the same way as the left. Its photos were then arranged, in a grid design, on a white, cardstock mat.
Their combined center was embellished with a sunburst die cut. Actually, this embellishment is two die cuts; but I wasn't a fan of what was written on the sunburst itself, so I used a little foam tape to adhere my "THE GOOD LIFE" circle in its center.
A sticker we got on our visit to Target Field was stuck near the top of the design and dressed-up with a few more flowers, which received the same treatments as previously described above. A couple of cut-apart phrases...
"WONDERFUL" die cut...
and another cluster of blooms complete the entire design.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's June 25th 3 to Inspire Challenge to (1) document a road trip or adventure, (2) incorporate paper strips, and (3) add some mist or paint...
and here's your July Sketch #296.
