The Studio Colour Challenge

Sunday, July 3, 2016

Morning, y'all!  Thank you so much for all your kind congrats for my big news yesterday.  I couldn't be any more excited!  I'm still waiting on my first, happy, little package to arrive but hoping to have a project pulled together within the week.  Until then, though, we've got a gorgeous, new, color challenge up, over at The Studio, to wet your creative appetites this month.  There simply aren't enough color challenges out there anymore, y'all.  So, I just love when Anna posts one of these, and it couldn't have come at any more perfect a time than to scrap pics of my cuties last 4th of July.  Nearly everything you see here came from a Hip Kit Club package at one time or another, which means a fabulous mix of goodies from manufacturers like Basic Grey, Elle's Studio, Crate Paper, and even Jen Hadfield.  Enjoy!
I started this page by trimming the outside edges of the coral, chevron, base print with strips of a gray, woodgrain, patterned paper and filling the space between the two with a partial doily and a skinny strip of a blue, southwest print.  I then smudged Patina and Lobster Glimmer Mists behind where my photos would lie, before anchoring lots of prints, including the southwest print mentioned previously, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  A few, random, stamped, in Jet Black ink, stars were scattered about; before everything was splattered with more of the same mists mentioned above, as well as Navy Color Shine and Pure Black, True Blue, and Titanium White acrylic paints.  That sets the stage.  Now, let's focus on the left side of the design, which was inspired by the sketch below.
The photo itself was matted with white cardstock; wrapped with a length of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow; and popped off the stack of prints, some of which were hand-cut in the shape of pennants, with foam tape.
Its bottom edge was then dressed up with a couple of die-cut banners, stacked over a stamp die cut, which also pops up from the top of the photo.
A glittery, gold, chipboard bloom was tucked under its top left corner, along with a vellum, "JUST WANT TO SPEND TIME WITH YOU", ephemera bit...
and a partial, black Polaroid, as well as the cut-apart, "Celebrate" title, was adhered under its left side.
A scattering of red starburst and gold, star sequins, not to mention red and gold enamel dots, as well as a "Kindred Spirits" die cut...
and a little journaling completes the look.  The journaling reads, It was just me and these cuties this year, but we had such a great time relaxing, playing outdoors, enjoying good food, and just being together.
You'll find a matted, white, cardstock, photo grid, along with those same sequins and enamel dots on the right side of the design...
as well as a layering of Basic Grey ephemera, including a gray tab, which I stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the word "TOGETHER"; a red frame; and a blue, printed arrow, which I secured with a simple staple, laced with a bit of Baker's Twine, tied in a bow.  A blue, heart die cut was coated with Clear Wink of Stella and tucked under the tab's top edge...
and a striped label, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "REMEMBER THIS JUL 04 2015" date, completes the look.
As mentioned above, further inspiration for this page came from The Memory Nest's Make It Monday No. 62...
and here's your Colour Challenge graphic to get you going in the right direction.
You have until Sunday, August 14, 2016, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of our talented team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a fantastic week, and an even better 4th of July, y'all!  XOXO
