Creative Scrappers August Reveal

Monday, August 1, 2016

Here we are at the start of another month once again; and that means a fabulous, new sketch is up over at Creative Scrappers.  We've paired up with The Cut Shoppe this month.  So, be sure to watch the blog for their Design Team's mid-month reveal.  For today, though, my teammates and I have cooked up our takes on the sketch, using The Cut Shoppe cut files.  I've used both A Walk In the Clouds and Funky Florals.  Enjoy!
I started this page by watercoloring a piece of watercolor paper in shades of blue and green and speckling it with those same watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  I then cut the clouds from white cardstock and backed the open ones with a variety of blue, green, gray, and kraft prints.
After adhering it over the watercolor wash, I used soft-gray-threaded stitches to secure a trio of prints, one of which was die-cut with a scallop edge, just right of vertical center.  A trio of lengths of blue twine were then stapled, over all layers, at both the left, along with a simple, twine bow and leaf wood chip...
and right of the design.  My photo was matted with white cardstock; backed with vellum, a folded kraft envelope, and a scrap of mesh fabric; and adhered just to the right of the twine bow detailed above.  It's bottom corners were also dressed up with a couple of puffy stickers, before tucking a number of Cameo-cut, white and kraft, cardstock leaves and branches, as well as more leaf wood chips, under its bottom left edge.
My "READ me a story" title, which was created from acrylic letters; puffy alphas; and a Cameo-cut, white, cardstock "a" and Crumb Cake, cardstock "story", grounds the design.
A "magical" tab, stapled to the top edge of my photo; stamped, in Jet Black ink, word bubble; and "DOCUMENTED" 8.24.15, label...
lead the way to a happy mix of cut-apart and stamped, in Jet Black ink, words and phrases, as well as one, lone, "happy" sticker, that clutter the top of the design.  A couple of puffy, cloud stickers, popped up with foam tape, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from The Cut Shoppe's August Cut It Out Challenge and Citrus Twist's July 23rd 3-to-Inspire Challenge to (1) use stamps to create your journaling, (2) cut up pattern paper into strips and create a layered background with them, and (3) use a product you've never used before.  I've never used acrylic letters before.
And here's your August Sketch #297 to get your creative juices flowing.
As always, you've got all month to make the magic happen, y'all.  Don't forget to share your pages, on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Pinterest, with the tag #CreatingWithSketches.  We'd also love for you to add them to the inlinkz found at the challenge link above; and Kristine will announce a random winner, of The Cut Shoppe prize, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016.  AND just because she loves y'all so much, Ashley has created a brand spankin' new and absolutely FREE cut file, Inner Circle, just for YOU.  Woohoo!  Enjoy!
