Creative Scrappers September Reveal

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Hey, y'all!  September is here; and that means a playful, new sketch is up over at Creative Scrappers.  We've paired up with Cuts 2 Luv this month.  So, be sure to watch the blog for their Design Team's mid-month reveal.  For today, though, my teammates and I have cooked up our takes on the sketch.  Here's mine.
I started this page by softening that busy, but delicious, background print with a little gesso.  I then smudged and splattered over it with teal, bright pink, and yellow watercolors.  Once that was dry, I stamped a number of circles in Jet Black ink and splattered over everything with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  A large, layered circle was Cameo-cut from a woodgrain, patterned paper and anchored, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitches, near the center of the page.  My photos, which were matted with white cardstock, were adhered just above that circle's horizontal center.  I wanted to keep my layering mostly free of pattern as to not compete with the background, so I just used some color-coordinating tissue papers, as well as a little gold, foil, striped vellum to create the layers behind my photo strip.  The smaller circles were Cameo-cut from that same woodgrain print and backed with gradient, striped, patterned paper.  The pink one was then used to anchor the gold, foil, "collect beautiful moments" die cut, which I used as my title.
In moving clockwise and before I get to the other two, I layered a gold, foil frame over a hand-cut, red label; stamped it, in Jet Black ink, with the "MAR 20 2015" date; and popped it up, over the top edges of the right-side photos, with foam tape.
A hand-cut, skinny tag, which I stamped, in Jet Black ink, with "COLOR ME HAPPY" and "mix it up" phrases and laced with white string...
as well as a simple manila tag, which I used for journaling, were tucked into the papers behind the date.  The journaling, reads, We were super surprised @ the sheer number of people @ Moon Marble Co. for our 1st visit.  Every kiddo in KC must've had the same Spring Break week, but it... (continued on the back) was still so fun to play with all the unusual toys in the shop and see a live marble-making demo.  We came home with lots of our own treasures for hrs. of FUN!
A hand-cut, teal "love THIS" circle coordinates perfectly with the gradient print on another of the Cameo-cut, woodgrain circles; and a yellow-backed, woodgrain circle grounds the whole look.  A trio of multicolored, pie die cuts were scattered throughout the design, popped up with foam tape, and made to look more like marbles themselves with Glossy Accents.
A few hand-cut, phrase strips and sprinkling of gold, puffy, dot circles complete the look.
Here's your September Sketch #298 to get your creative juices flowing.
As always, you've got all month to make the magic happen.  Don't forget to share your pages, on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Pinterest, with the tag #CreatingWithSketches.  We'd also love for you to add them to the inlinkz found at the challenge link above; and Kristine will announce a random winner, of the Cuts 2 Luv prize, on Friday, September 30, 2016.  Don't forget to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Have a fantastic September, y'all!  Blessings!
