Like a River Glorious

Hey, y'all!  Just popping in with a card I made for a dear friend whose husband just passed away after being sick for quite some time.  It's never easy to say goodbye, but when you know a loved one is completely healed and being taken care of by Jesus, it sure makes life feel a little more worth living.
Due to design team regulations, I haven't gotten to play with my patterned papers as much as I'd like.  So, I couldn't resist pulling them out to paper-piece these gorgeous blooms and hummingbird from a super old, The Craft's Meow stamp set, that I absolutely adore.  The images were first stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock; and the hummingbird was hand-cut out, before being paper-pieced that is, and popped off the surface of the card face with foam tape.
The hymn sentiment was stamped, in Jet Black ink, on vellum; laid over a couple of color-coordinating, patterned papers, which had already been stitched together with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches; and anchored to the bottom of the paper-pieced panel, which had been matted with Kraft cardstock, with more of those same stitches.
A length of Baker's Twine was then wrapped around the left, vertical edge of the prepped piece and tied, in a bow, near its top edge; before everything was adhered, with foam tape, to the White, cardstock, card face.  A sprinkling of Crystal sequins completes the look.
Inspiration for this card came from Cupcake Inspirations' Challenge 374...
House of Cards' September Challenge: Add a Bird and/or Colors...
and both Simon Says Stamp's Monday and Wednesday Challenges: STAMPtember Stamp It.
I'm beginning to make some progress with my blog visiting.  If I haven't made it to your neck of the woods yet, rest assured that I'll be around soon; but feel free to leave me a comment below, if there's something you'd like me to come look at sooner rather than later.  Thanks so much for taking a little time out of your day to visit me; and if you think about it, say a prayer for my friend, Shirley.  The funeral is tomorrow afternoon.  Blessings!
