Pretty Little Studio: Summer Sunshine

Monday, September 5, 2016

Hey, y'all, and happy Labor Day to all my friends in the United States!  I hope, regardless of whether you're getting today off work or not, that everyone is having a fantastic start to the week!  I'm up on the Pretty Little Studio blog again this am, sharing a page that's full of summer sunshine.  Enjoy!
I started this page by watercoloring a 12x12 watercolor, cardstock, base page in shades of peach and bright pink; splattering it with those same watercolors, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints; and adding a little texture by smearing modeling paste through a plus stencil.  That sets the stage for my patterned prints, many of which were anchored with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  I also drew more attention to the sun, in one of the prints, by outlining the image itself with machine stitching.  After adhering a row of photos, which were matted with white cardstock, I tucked a Catmint Tab, which I used to house my stamped, in Jet Black ink, "July 2015" date, as well as Salt Lake Clear Shipping and manila tags, both of which were laced with white string, under their combined top edge.  A Monarch Die Cut, perched upon a gold paper clip, and Heart You Flair Button complete the cluster.
The manila tag was also used to house my journaling, which reads, You have turned in to quite the little fish this summer, under Emily's instruction, @ Roeland Park Aquatic Center.  With the exception of the butterfly, you swim all... (continued on back) your strokes satisfactorily & even got to go off the high dive, for the 1st time, during class.  You're so brave & just love being in the water.
The "summer sunshine" title was created with a Sunshine Watercolor Word Art and Bloom Word Die Cut and dressed up with some Gold Metallic A to Z Die Cuts to spell "JOY", as well as a Diane Diver Vintage Mini Die Cut and another Monarch Die Cut.
One final Monarch Die Cut dresses up the top of the page, where I've stitched a number of Fluffy Clouds, just across their bottom edges, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
A little more white string to wrap the largest photo in the design, which was also matted with white cardstock and popped up with foam tape, and a quartet of Think Positive Stickers round out the look.
Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have a truly incredible week, friends!  Hugs!
