Creative Scrappers October Reveal

Saturday, October 1, 2016

Hey, y'all!  October has arrived; and that means a playful, new sketch is up, just in time for some weekend scrapping, over at Creative Scrappers.  We've paired up with Cocoa Vanilla this month.  So, be sure to watch the blog for their Design Team's mid-month reveal.  For today, though, my teammates and I have cooked up our takes on the sketch, using a heap of fabulous cut files from Cocoa Vanilla.  Thanks, Cocoa Vanilla!
I started this page by splattering the aqua, wash, patterned print with Sky and Piglet Mister Huey's, as well as Key Lime Glimmer Mist and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  In an effort to not totally cover up that gorgeous, background print, I used black-threaded, straight, machine stitching to form the split image from the sketch.  I then used both black and gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches to anchor a couple of coordinating prints, before securing my photos, which were matted with white cardstock; wrapped with a length of hemp twine, tied in a bow; popped up, with foam tape, over both a gold, foil, polka dot vellum and a little, white, tissue paper; and grounded with my "STAY WILD & sweet" title.  The title itself was created from a die-cut phrase, which I covered with Pure Black acrylic paint; die-cut, gold foil ampersand; and a wood veneer "sweet".  It was further dressed up with a "best day ever", banner die cut and a fun, acetate bear.
I used a couple of Cocoa Vanilla cut files to Cameo-cut the leaves and berry branches from patterned prints.  The berries were embellished with color-matching buttons, laced with white string.
In sticking with the established, clock-wise direction, I dressed up the combined, bottom, left corner of my photo strip with wood chip, chipboard, and cut-apart phrases.
A different, Cocoa Vanilla, leaf cut file, along with the same berry cut file used above, dress up the combined, top, right corner of my photo strip.  Both were Cameo-cut from patterned prints and dressed up with more color-matching buttons, laced with white string, as well as a chipboard, "this way" arrow.
A number of additional wood chip, chipboard, and cut-apart phrases, in addition to a cork phrase and my white, cardstock, journaling strips, which read, Lovin' the wide open spaces to practice strutting your stuff, ground the bottom, right corner of my photo strip.  An aqua, cut-apart label, which I used for a little, additional, Heritage Park, May 30, 2015, journaling; chipboard, "oh baby!" circle; and scattering of wood chip stars bring us full circle and complete the look.
Here's your October Sketch #299 to get you off and scrapping in the right direction.
Don't forget to share your pages, on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Pinterest, with the tag #CreatingWithSketches.  We'd also love for you to add them to the inlinkz found at the challenge link above; and Kristine will announce a random winner, of the Cocoa Vanilla prize, on Monday, October 31, 2016.  Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have a great weekend and an even greater October, friends!  Be blessed!
