The Studio Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Sunday, October 23, 2016

Morning, friends!  We've got another new challenge up, for you all, over in The Studio.  It's a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge to simply use any line from the board below and include those items in your layout.  I've chosen the diagonal of wood, thread, and twine.  Most of what you see here came from Citrus Twist's September and October Main Kits, which included lots from Maggie Holmes' Gather Collection and some fabulous die cuts from Indigo Hills by Pinkfresh.  I absolutely adore all the blues!
I started this page by placing a piece of watercolor paper, at an angle, over a corner of a black, polka dot print and securing it with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then added washes of blue/aqua watercolor behind where my photos would lie.  A few strategically stamped, in Jet Black ink, flowers prep the page for a little splattering using the same watercolors mentioned above, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Both of my groupings were then grounded with a number of hand-cut prints, anchored with more gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as the Infinity Hearts cut file from Just Nick, which I Cameo-cut from Night of Navy cardstock.  After arranging my photos, which were matted with white cardstock, I grounded the entire design with my "BATHROOM Magic" title, created from Dear chipboard Thickers and a "Magic" die cut...
as well as a couple of stamped, in Jet Black ink, phrases and a bit of hand-penned journaling, potty training - July 2010.
Just above that, not to mention the die-cut, scallop strip, which I snuck under both bottom photos, I created a grouping consisting of a "lovely", circle die cut; cork, glitter heart; "SWEET" flair button, backed with a tangle of gold thread; "Always", veneer heart; and a couple of floral die cuts, popped up with foam tape.
A couple of tags, one of which was laced with blue twine, tied in a bow, and the other of which was laced with white string, tied in a bow, and embellished with a snippet of ivory lace, were tucked under the combined top edge of those same photos.  A pink ticket and floral die cut, dressed up with a button, laced with white string...
turn our attention to the upper grouping with its "THE LITTLE THINGS ARE OFTEN THE BIGGEST THINGS" and "All smiles here" die cuts.  The latter was backed with another tangle of gold thread.  A couple more veneer hearts flank the two...
and "THIS MAKES ME SMILE" and "Remember" die cuts, not to mention a playful scattering of blue sequins, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Stuck?! Sketches' October 1st Challenge.
Here's your Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge board to get you off and running in the right direction.
You have until Sunday, November 6, 2016, to link up your takes, on this Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge and/or our October Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of my talented team was inspired.  We've got a trio of talented new designers sharing their debut pages, for The Studio, with this challenge, too.  So, please be sure to stop by the blog and give them a warm welcome.  Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit!  Have a blessed week, friends!  Hugs!
