Morning, friends! With Thanksgiving just a week away (Really?!), I thought that I'd share a current, favorite book of ours for this month's For the Love of Books pick. It is written for children ages three to eight; told in perfect, rhythmical verse; and illustrated with such delightfully delectable scenes, that you'll want to come back to it time and time again.
Bears Says Thanks, written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jane Chapman, is just one in a series about a well-known and loved Bear. Bear is alone in his cave and missing his friends. So, he decides to make a big dinner for them all but finds his cupboard empty. Just then, his friends begin showing up, each one with something delicious in tow. "And Bear says, 'Thanks!'" When Bear expresses his grief over having nothing to share, "Mouse squeaks, 'Don't fret. There's enough, dear Bear. You don't need any food, you have stories to share!'" Once the feast is enjoyed and those tales have been told, they all say, "Thanks!"
If you haven't yet met Bear, I know that you, too, will soon be charmed by his lovable, hug-able personality. Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy reading!
