PLS Pinterest Inspired: Courage

Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Afternoon, y'all!  I'm up again on the Pretty Little Studio blog today, sharing a page inspired by goodies mostly from our Summer Vibes Collection, as well as one of this month's Pinterest Photos below.  I couldn't help but think of honeycomb and bumblebees and need absolutely no excuse to pull out a favorite stamp set of mine, Reverse Confetti's The Buzz.
I started this page by watercoloring and splatter-painting a piece of 12" x 12" watercolor paper in shades of blue and green.  Once that was dry, I smeared Wild Honey Distress Ink through a honeycomb stencil; anchored a number of coordinating prints, including a couple of Let's Go Outside 3x4 Journaling Cards, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching, behind where my photos, which were matted with white cardstock, would eventually lie; and splattered everything with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.
The right side of the bottom photo was dressed up with that darling Maria Vintage Die Cut.  Gosh, I couldn't love her any more.  As soon as I saw her, I knew that she'd be a perfect fit to scrap pics of one of my boys' mission trips to Mexico.  She was popped up with foam tape; embellished with a Flower Crown Sticker, which I backed with white cardstock for better ease of placement, as well as a couple of bumblebees; and grounded with a stack of suitcases, backed with a tangle of black thread.  The suitcases and bumblebees themselves were stamped, in Jet Black ink, on watercolor paper; watercolored; and hand-cut out.  The latter also had their wings glittered.
A "June 2015" Treasure Map Tab tops the photograph...
and a cluster of more of those fabulous Flower Crown Stickers, along with a couple of Wanderlust Words Stickers, dresses up its left side.
The left side of the top photo was embellished with a Cambridge 4" Doily, topped with another Flower Crown Sticker, as well as a couple more bees, prepared in the same way as described above...
and backed with a Picnic Tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow.  It reads, This was your first mission trip, with Dad, to Juarez, Mexico; and you were so full of nervous excitement.  You were the youngest, by 3 yrs., of a group of 18 individuals, on the trip.  But you didn't let that stop you from jump- [continued on back] ing right in.  You've always had a way with relating to people regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity.  You learned more than I could ever put into words and had the whole team singing your praises, not to mention planning your next rip, by the time you got home.
A few more Flower Crown Stickers, on top of a trio of Wanderlust Words Stickers...
as well as one more prepared bumblebee with a stamped, in Jet Black ink, flight trail...
lead us to the Cameo-cut, from Basic Black cardstock, "Courage, dear heart." title, which, along with a healthy dose of Primrose and Seaspray Sequins, completes the look.
Thanks so much for visiting me today, friends!  Be blessed!
