The Studio Table Setting Challenge

Sunday, November 20, 2016

Morning, y'all!  I'm thrilled to be back, on this chilly, fall morning, with a brand new challenge from The Studio.  We've got a Table Setting Challenge, for you all, this go around to simply find some papercraft inspiration from the photograph below.  I was inspired by the neutral palette, but may have gotten a little carried away with my one non-neutral, pink.  (Insert sheepish grin.)  I couldn't resist using a gingham print, which is one of two things (The other is the music flair button.) that did not come in a Citrus Twist kit at one time or another, as inspired by the pillow, on the bench, in the background.  I also incorporated gold elements to mimic the flame of the candles and found myself further inspired by all the woodgrain elements.
I started this layout by smudging Patina Glimmer Mist onto the floral, base page.  I then used my Cameo to create a hexagon template and cut all of my prints and photos, which were matted with white cardstock, using such before placing them in the pattern seen above and splattering everything with more of that Patina Glimmer Mist, as well as Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  A little gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching frames each patterned paper.  The "Dance" title, which was Cameo-cut from Pink Pirouette cardstock; backed with a chipboard "today"; and topped with a "JUST ME" cut-apart, anchored with a wood veneer heart, grounds the design.
Moving in a clockwise direction, I hand-cut pink chevrons from a patterned print; popped it up with foam tape; and topped it with a chipboard, "magical" arrow.
The top of the design was embellished with a record player die cut, popped up with foam tape.  It anchors the right side of a ballerina die cut and was topped with a music flair button, backed with a tangle of gold thread.
My journaling was hand-written on strips of white cardstock and reads, One minute, you were all smiles; & the next, you were in tears.  Siobhan came to the rescue like a good friend should, & you gathered yourself for a bow.  March 29, 2012.
I tucked a floral tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, behind one of the lowest photos; slipped a diamond-cut, wood veneer heart under its top edge; stapled an acetate "3" over the top of its right side; and anchored its top left corner with a foam, floral Thicker.
Just to the right of the tag grouping, I Cameo-cut a "create beautiful memories" die cut in the shape of a hexagon, framed it with white cardstock, and weaved it right into the design itself.
"So stinkin' cute" and "love you to the moon and back" phrase stickers dress up the bottom photo...
and a stamped, in Jet Black ink, on a cut-apart label popped up with foam tape, "photo of the week", as well as a number of other wood veneer hearts and a scattering of pink and gold, polka dot, chipboard hearts, completes the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's November 13th Sunday Sketch...
and here's your Table Setting Inspiration Challenge photo to get you off and running in the right direction.
You have until Sunday, December 4, 2016, to link up your takes, on this Table Setting Challenge and/or our previous, November Colour Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of my talented team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!  XOXO
