Creative Scrappers December Reveal

Thursday, December 1, 2016

Morning, y'all!  Welcome to December!  A new month means a fabulous, new sketch is up over at Creative Scrappers.  We're hosting a blog hop in conjunction with the reveal of Sketch #301 and our sponsor Spiegelmom Scraps, who generously donated a fabulous, little package of goodies to the Design Team.  (Thank you, Jody!)  I hope you can take a few minutes, from your busy day, to join us today, as well as on December 15, 2016, for another blog hop with the Spiegelmom Scraps Design Team.  You should be coming here via Christine Beuzit's blog; but if you didn't or simply want to start at the beginning, you can find a complete list of hop participants below.  So, let's just get started.  Shall we?
I started this page by painstakingly using my Cameo to die-cut the snowflake cut file from white cardstock.  I was more drawn to the mismatched lengths of the strips in the sketch below and knew almost immediately I was going to use this cut file.  I'm not sure where it came from, but I could not get it to cut well at all, which is why I said "painstakingly" above.  It wouldn't cut through glitter cardstock at all, and I was stuck on those flakes needing glitter.  So, for my fifth attempt (Ugh!  Talk about your ears beginning to ring from all that beeping and buzzing and rolling and... Ugh!), I used plain cardstock; hand-cut all the little bits and pieces that didn't cut on their own, not to mention the ends off the 12" x 12" piece in order to achieve those irregular lengths; adhered it to that fabulous, gradient, peach, wash print, which I loved so much that I altered only slightly by stamping a few, small snowflakes in Jet Black ink; and glittered it all by hand.
After adhering my photo strip, which was matted with white cardstock, I created the "HELLO beautiful GIRL" title from a "HELLO" die cut and foam phrase and chipboard, letter Thickers.
The title itself was grounded with a stack of phrase stickers and cut-apart labels.  One of those labels was anchored with a couple of staples; and the other was used for my journaling, which reads, Ringing in the New Year '13 with a little snow play.
A plaid tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, as well as a "bundle up", cut-apart tab and Spieglemom Scraps, wax envelope, was tucked under the photo strip's left edge.
The flower and its leaves, near the top of the design, were hand-cut from patterned paper; popped up with foam tape; backed with a simple, white doily; and embellished with a triplicate stack, to create depth, of cork hearts.  The latter two cluster ingredients are from Spiegelmom Scraps.
Another hand-cut bloom and "BEST OF TIMES", cut-apart emblem, as well as a happy scattering of aqua and snowflake sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps and gold, puffy dots, complete the look.
Here's your December Sketch #301 to get you off and running in the right direction...
Kristine's got another cut file to make this one easier on you.  You can download it absolutely FREE here.

Just follow Creative Scrappers on Facebook and/or Instagram and leave me a comment below telling me that you've done so.  I'll pick my winner next Friday, December 9, 2016.  Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit, friends!  Your next stop on the hop is Joefil E. Cate.  Have a blessed December!

That little pink nose probably didn't mind the cold at all from the smile on her face. Gorgeous layout. Kudos to you for the victory over the die cut. LOL It was worth the effort. Love the beautiful pink wash.
