Guest Designing for Picture This!

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Evening, y'all!  I'm super excited to have the opportunity to Guest Design with the talented ladies over at Picture This! this month.  The challenge is Shapes, which has oh, so many possibilities!  Matter of fact, it was difficult for me to narrow down.  In the end, I decided to stick with one of my favorite, go-to, papercrafting shapes, the star.  I’ve tied it into my page through patterned print, one of which was actually cut in the shape of a star; stitching; stamping; modeling paste; and stickers.  I’m so excited to finally have gotten to make good use out of a past Christmas gift, October Afternoon’s Under the Tree Collection!  Enjoy!
I started this page by watercoloring and splattering a piece of 12" x 12" watercolor paper in shades of pink, red, and green.  I then stamped a number of stars, in Jet Black and Garden Green inks, round about the design, before applying a little modeling paste through a star stencil and anchoring a happy mix of prints, including a Cameo-cut primitive star, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching before splattering everything with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.
That set the stage for my photos, which were matted with white cardstock and adhered, horizontally, across the center of the star.  A piece of gold, foil, striped vellum was tucked under their left side and a "HOME for the HOLIDAYS" cut-apart, which I dressed up with a little glitter, under their right.
The bottom left corner of the cut-apart was embellished with a sweet, little, vintage deer, which also anchors the "let your heart be light" cut-apart, which was popped up with foam tape.
You'll also see a Baker's Twine bow popping out from behind the deer.  Before the center photo was adhered in place with foam tape, I wrapped it with a length of Baker's Twine, tied, in a bow, to its right edge.
The top of that same, center photo was embellished with a couple of die cuts, one of which was laced with more Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, as well as a few shape stickers and red button, laced with white string.
Another star sticker was popped up in the top right corner of the design, amidst a couple of stamped, in Jet Black ink, phrases.
The "Story TIME" title was created from letter stickers and grounded with a couple more stamped, in Jet Black and Garden Green inks, phrases...
and two phrase stickers, embellished with another red button, laced with white string, as well as the stamped scripture, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Stuck?! Sketches' December 1st Challenge.
Thanks so much for humbling me with a visit, friends!  Have a blessed weekend!  Hugs!
