The Studio Half Patterned Paper Challenge

Sunday, March 12, 2017

Morning, friends!  It's time for our first March challenge in The Studio, and we'd like you to use patterned paper on half of your layout.  I used some old and new, Citrus Twist goodies and two patterned paper halves to bring this one, of Adina and her pet bunny, to life.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adhering two 12" x 6" pieces of patterned paper together and applying a bit of gesso to their combined center.  Once that was dry, I created a few puddles of mint and teal watercolors; splattered it with those same watercolors; and anchored a number of prints, behind where my photos, which were matted with white cardstock, would eventually lie, as well as the connection between the background prints, with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitches.  Everything was then splattered again, but this time, with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  A couple of cut-apart tags, laced with white string, tied in a knot and bow respectively, were tucked under the right side of my photos and topped with a "HAPPY" chipboard tag, laced with gold thread, tied in a bow.
A floral, envelope die cut was tucked under the bottom edge of my photos; used to house my March 12, 2016 date; and topped with a camera "ROLL" die cut, which was attached to it with messy, gold-threaded, machine stitches and backed with a gold, foil, chipboard label, just to give it a bit more presence.
That same envelope die cut was then topped with a couple of white-embossed, vellum blooms and backed with a tangle of gold thread, as well as a bit of cheesecloth, which was also tucked under the bottom edge of the photos themselves.
Another white-embossed, vellum bloom, backed with more cheesecloth, can be found near the top left corner of my photos, along with a "spread happy" cut-apart tab.
The "2 best FRIENDS" title overlaps that third bloom and was made from an acetate "2"; foam, glitter, "best" Thicker; and Dear chipboard Thickers.
A sprinkling of gold, puffy, heart stickers and a simple, hand-written statement, which reads, You are such a precious pair, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's March 5th Sunday Sketch, which I rotated 90 degrees to the right...
and Picture This!'s March 1st Moodboard Challenge.  I was inspired by all the greens, teals, and peaches, not to mention those fabulous polka dots and speckles; and the gold and black combination had me at hello.
You have until Sunday, April 9, 2017, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be blessed!
