The Studio Quote Challenge

Sunday, April 23, 2017

Morning, friends!  Just stopping in to share our second April challenge in The Studio.  We're asking you to use a quote on your pages this go around.  Fittingly, for the mom who has purchased over 1,300 children's books (Shhh!  Don't tell my hubby.), I couldn't pass on using Neil Gaiman's "A book is a dream that you hold in your hands," quote along with a few precious pics of my littlest reading just before bed.
I started this page by using a piece of plastic wrap to smudge Sky Mr. Huey's and Lobster Glimmer Mist onto the textured, white, cardstock, base page.  I then splattered it with those same mists, as well as Apricot Jelly Glimmer Mist and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  I then anchored a couple of hand-cut, from patterned prints, banners, along with a happy stack of coordinating prints, behind where my photo grid would lie, with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I also tucked a bit of folded vellum in behind the bottom half of my photos, which were matted with white cardstock.  My quote was then created, vertically and with Fresh Mint Mini ABC Stickers from Pretty Little Studio, down the right side of my photos.  The author of the quote was hand-penned at its base.
Citrus Twist's April Sophie Main Kit came with a fabulous mix of die-cut goodies, made by Pinkfresh, specifically for Citrus Twist; and I cannot tell you how much I adore each and every little treasure in that package.  Pure perfection!  A number of the die-cuts, that I placed down the vertical, left side of my photos, came from that package, beginning with the bright blue, "DISCOVER" tag, which I laced with yellow string, tied in a bow, as well as the little boy, looking through a magnifying glass, which I popped up with foam tape.
Moving down the column, the ticket; red-framed, journaling card, popped up with foam tape; open heart; and "take me anywhere" tag, which I laced with white string, clipped with a heart paper clip, and popped up with more foam tape, also come from that package.
The yellow arrow; "nose in a book" label, which I popped up with foam tape; and stapled, "take a CLOSER LOOK" die cut all come from that very same package.  I also threw in a "#cute" cut-apart and hand-cut, from patterned paper, "EXPLORE".  A trio of Pinkfresh Dream On Studio Puff Stickers and single, pearl button, laced with white string...
not to mention a playful, little, black-speckled triangle, anchored in the bottom left corner of the design with black-threaded, straight, machine stitching, complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's April 9th Sunday Sketch...
and I'm doubling it up with their April 22nd 3-to-Inspire Challenge, to (1) add a hand-cut embellishment from patterned paper, (2) use some staples, and (3) add a triangle of patterned paper to any corner of your page, too.
You have until Sunday, May 7, 2017, to link up your takes, on this Quote Challenge and/or our April Sketch Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week, y'all!
