Guest Designing with Scrap Our Stash

Monday, May 1, 2017

Hey, y'all!  I'm so excited to be back guest designing with the talented ladies over at Scrap Our Stash this month!  Yay!  They've cooked up a fun, tic tac toe challenge to start things off and will be back mid-month with an inspiring, new sketch.  For now, let's just get started with my take on the prior.  Shall we?
I started this page by adding pink, yellow, and aqua watercolor puddles to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, base page.  Tip:  Stick with shades of primary colors so as not to create brown, mucky puddles as the colors mix.  I then added a little Pumice Stone Distress Ink through a lattice stencil and stamped a couple of butterflies in Jet Black ink, before splattering everything with more of those same shades of watercolor, as well as Gold Color Shine and Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.
My photo was then matted with white cardstock; backed with a happy mix of prints, all anchored with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching, not to mention a folded sheet of vellum; and topped with a saved, chipboard, Target, clothing tag, laced with brown thread, and a teal, journaling tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow.
It was further sandwiched between a couple of theme-respective die cuts, popped up with foam tape, as well as a hand-cut, from a patterned print, butterfly on the left...
and the Cameo-cut, from a black, speckled, patterned paper, "READ" title, as well as a multicolored, cut-apart tab, labeled with the hand-written 6.16.16 date, on the right.
The title itself was topped with a hand-cut, from patterned paper, black frame, topped with a floral die cut, as well as a hand-cut, from patterned paper, butterfly, all of which were popped up with foam tape.  The cluster was then sandwiched between a gorgeous, butterfly, flair button on the right and a "you make the world more beautiful" die cut on the left.
I couldn't resist using the quote that came with the previously-stamped butterfly.  It was stamped in Jet Black ink and reads, "Once we BELIEVE in ourselves, we can risk CURIOSITY, WONDER, SPONTANEOUS DELIGHT, or any experience that reveals THE HUMAN SPIRIT. - e.e. cummings"
Another hand-cut, from patterned paper, butterfly, as well as a "Delightful" puff sticker and scattering of teal sequins...
leads us to the Cameo-cut, from Basic Black cardstock, "Oh, the places you'll go" phrase, which completes the look.  Tip:  Use Glad Press'n Seal Wrap to pick the letters directly up off your Silhouette sticky mat.  Apply liquid glue to the backside, and press into place on your page.  I usually wait a couple of minutes to ensure the glue has dried completely.  Then, peal off the Press'n Seal Wrap, and your letters are in the exact same place as was initially designed by the cut file artist.  Woohoo!
Here's Scrap Our Stash's May Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge to get you off and scrapping in the right direction.  I used a journal card, which I absentmindedly turned into a tag, the color yellow, and 3+ patterned papers for a vertical tic tac toe down the left side of the board.
Thanks, as always, for humbling me with a visit!  Have a great week, friends!
