Hey, y'all! Just sneaking in this month's For the Love of Books pick before the month completely gets away from me. Adina helped me pick this second book in the Gabby, God's Little Angel series to share. Lately, she has been struggling with a tendency to want to quit when things get tough and thought maybe there might be somebody out there going through the same thing who could be encouraged, in the same way that she was, by this book. It is written for children ages three to seven.
Gabby's Stick-to-It Day, written by Sheila Walsh and illustrated by Natasha Kuricheva, tells the story of Gabby's latest charge, Sophie, who has a problem with quitting. Sophie had already caused a near disaster, when she got tired of helping her dad paint the fence and left the paint can on top of the garden gate. Then, she tried to help her mom by giving her dog a bath; but when Sophie got wetter than the dog, she decided to walk away from the trouble of it all. By the time Sophie got doused in the face with flying noodles, while she was reading her brother a story, Gabby knew she needed a serious intervention. She began reminding Sophie of a Bible verse she had once learned, We must not become tired of doing good. We will receive our harvest of eternal life at the right time. We must not give up! (Galatians 6:9) Suddenly, Sophie was ready for another shot at storytime; and this time, she was determined to stick to it.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy reading, friends!
