The Studio In Stitches Challenge

Sunday, July 30, 2017

Morning, friends!  Just popping back in today with our third and final, July challenge in The Studio.  Be it hand, machine, and/or faux... We're looking for stitching on this week's page.  I did some hand and machine-stitching on my layout, which was further inspired by a mix of a variety of different Citrus Twist packages over the months.  I just love how the old and new co-mingled effortlessly for my take.  Enjoy!
I started this page by inking Broken China Distress Ink, through a heart stencil, onto the pink, Washi, patterned, paper, base page.  I then splattered it with watered-down Broken China Distress Ink; Cherry Glimmer Mist; and Sunshine Yellow, Pure Black, and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once everything was dry, I used teal embroidery floss to hand-stitch around the edges of my inked hearts and machine-stitching to secure a quartet of prints behind my photo, which was matted with white cardstock and backed with a simple tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow.
A "WHATEVER YOU DO, MAKE SURE IT MAKES YOU HAPPY" die cut was tucked between those stitched prints; and a "3" die cut was popped up, with foam tape, just above it.  Tip: If the color of your die-cut doesn't match the rest of your design (Mine had a bright blue "3" on it.), ink over it with a darker, coordinating color.  In my case, black ink did the trick.
Just to the left of my photo, I tucked a repeated, "LOVE" cut-apart, as well as a journaling card and vertical, "happy" die cut.  My journaling reads, When I took this photo, as you waited for the mailman nearly 5 yrs. ago now, I remember thinking how lucky I was to have this bold, independent, beautiful daughter to call my own.  I love you; & no matter where life takes you, that fact will never change.  I hope you NEVER forget it.
A "HELLO, Sunshine" cut-apart was then stapled to the bottom right of the journaling card...
and a yellow label, stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the "REMEMBER THIS SEP 21 2012" date, as well as a "LISTEN TO YOUR HEART" phrase sticker, above it.
An acetate "9", to represent the month my photo was taken, was stapled to the top left of the "LOVE" cut-apart...
and the "all smiles", foam, phrase Thicker title above it.  A hand-cut butterfly...

as well as lots of gold foil, die-cut and cork hearts, a number of which were popped up with foam tape, completes he look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's July 9th Sunday Sketch.
You have until Sunday, August 13, 2017, to link up your takes, on this In Stitches Challenge and/or our previous, July No People Challenge and/or Scraplift Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, y'all!
