The Studio Scraplift Challenge

Sunday, July 2, 2017

Morning, y'all!  Just popping in to share my take on our first July challenge in The Studio.  We want you to pick one of our design team's pages from any challenge on the blog and scraplift it.  Since I didn't get to take part in last month's Sketch Challenge, based upon Vivan's take on our May Recipe Challenge, I couldn't resist choosing her page (shown below) as my muse for this challenge.  I used lots of Elle's Studio goodies to get it done, and nearly everything you see here came from a Citrus Twist Kit Club box at one time or another.
I started this page by applying white gesso to my grid, patterned, paper background with an old, plastic, gift card.  I then smudged Sunshine and Bonny Blue Mister Huey's behind where my photos would lie before splattering everything with those same mists.  Broken China Distress Ink was then sponged, over the mists, through a hexagon stencil before everything was splattered once again, but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  That set the foundation for my photos which were all matted with white cardstock.  Beginning on the left side of the page and moving clockwise, my photo was partially backed with a red, grid print, which I anchored with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching; but before I did so, I tucked an "XOXO" die cut, vertically, under its left side.
It was then grounded  with a trio of die cuts, one of which was popped up with foam tape and used to record the 3/27/16 date and another of which I stamped, in Jet Black ink, with the word "EMBRACING".  A couple of floral, puffy stickers, as well as a duo of red buttons, laced with white thread...
turn our attention to the top of the photo, where you'll find an "ENJOYING THIS MOMENT" die cut, popped up with foam tape.
A "WRITE IT ON YOUR HEART" die cut was tucked, behind my photos, near top center of the design and crowned with die-cut and puffy sticker hearts.  One of the die-cut hearts was also popped up with foam tape and given a little shine with Glossy Accents.
The top right photo was backed with an aqua, weave print, anchored with more white-threaded, straight, machine stitching, and embellished with a "HERE & NOW" die cut, which was secured with a single staple, as well as a heart ticket.
The third and final photo was backed with two, different, color-coordinating prints, anchored, once again, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a bit of cheesecloth for additional texture; popped up with foam tape; and topped with a "HAPPY HEART" die cut, adhered with a double layer of foam tape.
A woodgrain tag, laced with Baker's Twine, tied in a bow, was tucked behind all that.
The entire design was then grounded with a "CUTE little moments" title, made from black, puffy stickers and white, foam, phrase Thickers.
A couple of additional die cuts, one of which was lifted with foam tape; duet of stamped, in Jet Black ink, phrases; and snippet of journaling, which reads, It was so fun watching you really get in on the fun this year.  Happy Easter!, not to mention two skinny, 12" strips of patterned paper, running, at an angle, down the vertical right side of the page and anchored with white-threaded, straight, machine stitching, complete the look.
Here's Vivan's page...
and, of course, Anna's June Sketch, based upon it.
You have until Sunday, August 13, 2017, to link up your takes, on this Scraplift Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see how the rest of the team was inspired.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, y'all!
