The Studio Sketch Challenge

Sunday, August 27, 2017

Morning, friends!  We've got a new Sketch Challenge up over in the The Studio, and I'm popping in to share my take on it today.  I've tapped into my August Photobooth Citrus Twist Kit to bring it to life.  Enjoy!
I started this page by adding puddles and splatters of green and blue watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper base page.  I then rubbed Spun Sugar Distress Ink, through an alphabet stencil, behind where my photo, which was matted with white cardstock, would eventually lie and outlined those letters with a black artist pen.  Everything was then once again splattered but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Once it was dry, I anchored a number of prints with gold-threaded, straight, machine stitching and tucked a Cameo-cut, bright, pink, designer pattern, as inspired by the circles in the sketch below, as well as a sparkled and die-cut, number strip and snippet of cheesecloth, between them all.  A die-cut tag, laced with white string, tied in a bow, peeks out from behind the photograph itself...
and a "RISE AND SHINE" phrase sticker, which also serves as my title, dresses up its bottom left corner.
The top of my photo was embellished with a "DELIGHTFUL DAY" die-cut banner, popped up with foam tape; black and white, floral die cut; stamped, in Jet Black ink, on white cardstock and hand-cut blooms; couple of punched, vellum flowers, which you'll also find scattered throughout the design, embellished with simple, black, enamel dots; and a sweet, little, puffy, bird sticker.
Amidst that cluster, I also added a duo of black and white, striped buttons, laced with white string, and popped one of the Cameo-cut, bright pink, designer paper circles up with foam tape.  A couple of other circles were additionally scattered throughout the design.
"HAPPY" and "MAGICAL" tickets ground the Cameo-cut, from Basic Black cardstock, word "Remember" along the vertical, right side of the page.  You'll also find a trickling of elements from the main part of the design here, including the third of a trio of gold, star sequins, as well as my hand-penned, March 26, 2016, date.
Lots of journaling, down the left side of the design, completes the look and reads, It had been a rough spring with us continually passing around the ickies, but we were all finally feeling well enough to join our Sunday school class, as well as a number of other people from our church, in passing out Easter baskets to children and Bibles to one and all; witnessing; and praying with people, as we walked door to door through a couple of apartment complexes in our city.  It was cold and rainy, and the egg hunt we had planned got canceled; but this is what it's all about.  We had the time of our lives!  We were so thankful for this tangible opportunity to be His hands and feet.
Further inspiration for this page came from Colorful Creations' August 15th Fussy Cutting Challenge...
and Citrus Twist's August 19th 3-to-Inspire Challenge to (1) use three or more words in your title, (2) number it, and (3) incorporate paper strips.
And here's your Sketch Challenge graphic to get you off and running in the right direction.
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what my talented teammies have cooked up just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, you have until Sunday, September 10, 2017, to link up your takes, on this Sketch Challenge and/or our previous, August, Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!
