Pretty Little Studio: Letterboxing

Saturday, October 7, 2017

Morning, y'all!  I'm up again on the Pretty Little Studio blog today sharing a two-pager.  Woohoo!  It's been a long time since I've taken on one of those; but Ashley Horton's new Wish You Were Here Collection inspired me to pull out some old photos of a Colorado vacation, that my family, along with some friends of ours, took over nine years ago now.  Ezekiel wasn't quite five-years-old, and I was just over four months pregnant with Adina.  Kaden wasn't yet even a glimmer in our eyes.  It seems like a lifetime ago!
I started this spread by adding puddles of teal watercolor across both sides.  I then splattered it with teal, red, dusty orange, yellow, and green watercolors, not to mention both Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  Both sides had snippets of Bon Voyage, Wafarer, and You Are Here anchored, with teal-threaded, straight, machine stitching, behind where my photo towers would eventually lie.  I then turned my focus to the left side of my design, which just so happens to have been inspired by the sketch below.
After my photos were matted with white cardstock, I added a Travel Plans Frame behind the top photo...
and dressed up its left side with a Travel Plans Frame hexagon, topped with a Stop Here Die-Cut heart, popped up with foam tape, as well as an "ON AN ADVENTURE" On the Go Word Sticker and Off the Grid Label, used to house my hand-written, Tuesday, June 17, 2008, Colorado Springs, CO, details.
The "let's go" Stop Here Die-Cut outline of the U.S. was popped up with foam tape to the left of the top two photos and, in turn, topped with a "now" Daily Dream Die-Cut Word, which also was popped up with foam tape.
The bottom photo was surrounded by a couple of additional Travel Plans Frames, as well as a One Way Flair Button, backed with a tangle of teal thread.
A couple of Baggage Claim Shipping Tags, laced with white string and Baker's Twine, tied in bows, respectively, were tucked behind the fourth and final photo on this page.
The photo itself was then sandwiched between a collection of Stop Here, Fernweh, and No Prob-Llama Die Cuts on the right...
and another One Way Flair Button on the left.
Both hand-cut, from the Beach Umbrella print, hexagons, tossed in amidst an additional few from the Travel Plans Frames and Stop Here Die Cuts packages, and that darling, No Prob-Llama Die Cut llama...
carry over onto the right side of the design.
My "LETTERBOXING" title was Cameo-cut from the Roam print; topped with stamped, in Jet Black ink, letters to spell out our "garden of the gods" location; and grounded with an "extraordinary" Daily Dream Die-Cut Word.
A trio of Travel Plans Frames were tucked in behind the top of my tower of photos, all of which were matted with more white cardstock.  They were then dressed up with a "sight seeing" Baggage Claim Shipping Tags phrase, popped up with foam tape.
Another One Way Flair Button, backed with a tangle of teal thread, and Hello Word Die-Cut hearts create a sweet, little cluster between the top two photographs.
Two final Travel Plans Frames, paired with a Hello Word Die-Cut "vacation" anchor the bottom photos...
and more of those Travel Plans Frames and hand-cut, Beach Umbrellas hexagons complete the look.
As I mentioned above, further inspiration for this page came from Stuck?! Sketches' October 1st Challenge...
as well as Show Us Your Stuff's October Challenge.  I've included Fernweh die cuts, frames, flair buttons, and lots and lots of foam tape.

I can't wait to see what you all cook up with this collection!  Thanks, as always, for visiting my little neck of the woods; and have a truly amazing weekend, friends!
