For the Love of Books

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Evening, y'all!  Just stopping in to share my pick for this month's For the Love of Books post.  This one has been a favorite of mine for more than a decade.  It is written for children ages three to seven; and its hilariously-detailed, childlike illustrations speak volumes to the subject of the text.
"I just don't know what's going on or why it has to be.  But every day it's something worse.  What's happening to me?"  So begins the laugh-out-loud, downhill spiral to oblivion of a five-year-old boy in Parts, written and illustrated by Tedd Arnold.  The loss of a few hairs leads to his premature balding.  Bits of skin peeling from his toes results in him losing every ounce of skin he has left, and a booger leaves him in awe of his ability to feel no pain due to a piece of his brain falling out.  Fortunately, parental intervention leads to a developing understanding that loose, baby teeth won't lead to his ultimate demise and puts to rest the majority of his ludicrous fears through the assurance that all his bodily discoveries are simply quite normal.

If you like Parts, you'll adore More Parts and Even More Parts.  I'll be back bright and early tomorrow morning with a brand-new creation for Pretty Little Studio.  Until then, happy reading; and have a blessed night!
