Pretty Little Studio: I Heart You

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Morning, y'all!  I'm so sorry that it's been awhile since I've been here.  I've been changing things up a bit, in our home, with new wall color and a number of DIY projects.  Plus, it takes some doing to balance any projects, especially painting, around my kiddos busy hands and schedules. Needless to say, there have been a lot of late nights; but I'm making progress.  Anyway, I'm taking a break from it all today to share a playful page, which just so happens to be up on the Pretty Little Studio blog.  It was inspired by our new Potpourri Collection.
I started this page by taping off approximately 1/2" around the outside edges of the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, base page to create a watercolored frame.  Once it was dry, I machine-stitched around its edges with teal-threaded, straight and zig-zag, machine stitching.  I then added a puddle of orange watercolor just left of vertical center and splattered everything with the same shades of watercolor used in the frame... bright pink, purple, orange, and teal.  A few random, stamped, in Jet Black ink, messy circles were then added to the background before splattering it once again, but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.  That sets the stage for my sunshine, which was Cameo-cut from the Corn Maze print; anchored with yellow-threaded, straight, machine stitching; and topped with my photo, which was matted with white cardstock and backed with pieces of our Mushroom Soup and Pile of Leaves prints, anchored with more teal-threaded, straight, machine stitching, as well as a torn and folded piece of Blowing Bubbles Vellum and snippet of cheesecloth.  A Love Life Words Die Cut was used to create the "I Heart You" title, which was topped with a "stay who you are" So Much Beauty Phrase Sticker.
The bottom left corner of my layered photo was embellished with a Forest Walk Flair Button, backed with a tangle of teal thread, as well as a couple of Family Branch Die-Cut branches.
The bottom right corner of my photograph was dressed up with a sweet, Family Branch Die-Cut frog, popped up with foam tape and topped with a Rainbow Vibes Die-Cut "love" and Daily Dreams Die-Cut "daily".  That playful frog was also backed with a homemade, clear tag, which was created by sealing a playful mix of Sunsation, Seaspray, Primrose, and Crystal Sequins, along with a quartet of Family Branch Die-Cut hearts, between hand-cut pieces of Rain Puddles Clear paper and plain clear acetate, with teal-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  I then topped it with a strip of the Back to School print, secured with a Jumbo silver brad, laced with white string, tied in a bow, as well as a "Savour every little moment" So Much Beauty Phrase Sticker.  My hand-written, 3.26.16 date peeks out just below its bottom edge.
Both a Family Branch Die-Cut pennant and Back to School Die-Cut kite fly from the top of the tag.
My journaling reads, All smiles & looking extra cute... the chilly, rainy weather doesn't bother you a bit.  You just love to be outdoors.
A number of punched, white, cardstock clouds, as well as Family Branch Die-Cut blossoms, some of which were popped up with foam tape for dimension, were scattered throughout the design to complete the look.
Further inspiration for this page came from Sketches in Thyme's Sketch #309.
Before I run, I also wanted to let you all know that Pretty Little Studio is having a Guest Designer Call.  Be sure to stop by the blog for all the details.
Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a wonderful Wednesday, friends!
