The Studio Mood Board Challenge

Sunday, January 28, 2018

Morning, y'all!  Just popping back in to share our second January challenge in The Studio.  Our January 2017 Mood Board Challenge, featuring Sherwin-Williams' color of the year, Poised Taupe, was such a hit; that we decided to do it again with the 2018 color of the year, Oceanside.  Folks, I'm completely smitten!  What a gorgeous color!  We want to see how it, as it's featured in the mood board below, inspires you this go around.  I was drawn to the board's fabulous colors and array of circles.  I also knew that I wanted to include photos with a water theme, as well as natural elements, like hemp twine and flowers, as inspired by the ocean, wheat field, and kiwi images.  That little bit of twinkle, in the bottom, wave photograph, even translates into glitter elements within my design.
I started this page by adding puddles of wheat and soft green watercolors to the 12" x 12" watercolor paper, base page.  I then traced a number of circles onto the background; watercolored them; and splattered everything with shades of green, yellow, and teal watercolors.  A few grungy circles were stamped, in Jet Black ink, throughout the design before splattering everything once again, but this time with Pure Black and Titanium White acrylic paints.
I then Cameo-cut a trio of Funky Piecharts from textured, white cardstock and backed each pie piece with a different, color-coordinating print.  Once they were adhered in place, I tucked a number of hand-cut, mint and blue, floral circles throughout the design, along with my photographs, which were matted with white cardstock.  The bottom photograph was sandwiched between a gorgeous, "love", foam, glitter Thicker on the left...
and a gray, March 25, 2012, label, popped up with foam tape, on the right.

A "KEEP YOUR Chin up & DON'T EVER Give up", die-cut circle was popped up with foam tape and topped with a foam, glitter heart.

A "Happy Friday!" tag was laced with hemp twine, tied in a bow, and grounded with a "simple pleasures" tag, popped up with foam tape.
The "life is better when you're laughing", die-cut circle was also popped up with foam tape.
My journaling traces around the edges of any number of the circle elements within the design and reads, You and me... wouldn't have it any other way.
It also uses teal, glitter letters to include the "SEA LIFE" title... Enjoying an afternoon @ "SEA LIFE" thanks to your efforts in the Young Environmentalist Competition.  A number of floral die cuts and hand-cut, from that previously-used, mint and blue, floral print, blossoms, as well as a scattering of gold, puffy dots, complete the look.

Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what my talented teammies have cooked up just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, you have until Sunday, February 11, 2018, to link up your takes, on this Mood Board Challenge and/or our previous, January Snowflakes Challenge, in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!
