The Studio Snowflakes Challenge

Sunday, January 14, 2018

Morning, friends!  I'm stopping in today to share our first January Challenge in The Studio.  We're looking for snowflakes this go around, and I've brought them in all shapes and sizes from sequins and acetate bits to paper and stamped intricacies.  Enjoy!
I started this page by first prepping my dotted stripe, patterned paper, base page with white gesso.  I then added aqua and teal, watercolor puddles, as well as aqua, teal, coral, and yellow, watercolor splatters, before stamping the background, in Jet Black ink, with a variety of Folk Art Flurries.  A splattering of Pure Black and Titanium White, acrylic paints set the stage for a trio of acetate snowflakes, as well as a large, Cameo-cut, from patterned paper, snowflake, which was secured with silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.  My photos were then matted with white cardstock and backed with a snippet of cheesecloth, as well as a trio of color-coordinating prints, all anchored with more silver-threaded, straight, machine stitching.
The "oh so happy" title was created from puffy sticker Thickers.
I then tucked an aqua tag, laced with aqua string, tied in a bow, behind my photos, just to the right of the title, and topped it with a "3" die-cut, to represent both the month of March, when these photos were taken, as well as the three precious members of my family pictured here, and a "2013" flair button, backed with a tangle of silver thread.
A cork, paperclip and "hooray!" ticket, popped up with foam tape...
along with "Currently" ephemera, popped up with more foam tape, and a "TOGETHER" phrase sticker, round the bottom right corner.
A handful of snowflake sequins brings us to my hand-written journaling, which completes the look and reads, We just cannot get enough of the glorious SNOW!  Bring it on, baby!  3.25.13.
Further inspiration for this page came from Citrus Twist's December 31st Sunday Sketch Challenge...
and Scrap Our Stash's January Golden Globe Stash Challenge.  I'm just having too much fun with this one ;)!
Be sure to stop by the challenge link above to see what my talented teammies have cooked up just for your viewing pleasure.  Then, you have until Sunday, February 11, 2018, to link up your takes in the right-hand column of The Studio blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a blessed week, friends!
