Kitchen Reno: Part 3

Thursday, April 5, 2018

Afternoon, y'all!  Well, despite exhaustion and frustration and everything in between, we're still plugging away at our kitchen renovation.  Our cabinet people sent us the wrong size of cabinet to go above our refrigerator, even though their records say the correct size was ordered; and we're still waiting on them to correct it.  We also ordered a new window to go above our kitchen sink months ago, because that's how long it was going to take to arrive.  Then, when the day of its said arrival came and went, we made another call; and of course, they don't have it.  It sounds as though they gave it to another customer; so, we're also waiting on that to re-arrive.  Oh, and that's not the half of it!  My hubby took our brand-new countertop (See below.) back to the guys that made it, so they could notch out the front corners for a better fit for our sink; and they DROPPED and CRACKED it.  Doh.  My patience has all but run out.

All that said, I do have a few pics, to share, of the PROGRESS ;).  MOST of the cabinets have been installed...
including this fabulous, spice rack.  I know that I still need to adjust the shelves for a better fit, but EEEK!
Here my hubby is installing the bar for our microwave...
and here is the whole view by the end of the day.  I cannot tell you how much I love all the soft-close doors and drawers, not to mention hidden hinges.  Swoon!  But that sink didn't work out so well.  It was advertised as an undermount, farmhouse sink.  That's NOT what it was, which means that I had to make another concession.  The new sink is still an apronfront, farmhouse sink; but it is no longer undermount.  They're just so, stinkin' expensive!  It won't have a metal, mounting strip, though.  So, it's already behind me ;).
Then, it was time for hardware.
So pretty!
And here's the infamous, dropped countertop.  Sigh.  It still makes my tummy hurt just thinking about it.
Again... So pretty!
The opposite wall is getting dressed with beadboard; and, of course, all the trim is beginning to go up, which brings you up to speed.
I'm off to help unload a new dishwasher.  Did you hear me squeal?!  Truthfully, the promise of such is the only reason I'm not throwing things at the guy who dropped my beautiful countertop.  LOL!  Thanks so much for checking in on us!  Have a wonderful evening, friends!
